Curse Of The Kraken’s Eye
Gatlin's Escape Games - Pigeon Forge
Escape room
IRL
My partner and I love to do escape rooms whenever we travel. We’ve done over 50 total thus far. This week we’re on vacation to visit the Great Smoky Mountains and while we are here we’ve done games at most of the escape rooms in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. I will definitely say that the three Gatlin’s Escape locations have been the best experiences thus far game wise with excellent effects and puzzles/props as well as pretty good story lines. Only negative is that the rooms are not private unless you pay more. Personally we were able to get 3 games today with out anyone else joining our games. We suggest holding off on signing up for the game until you get a little closer to the scheduled time if you want to aim for a private room. All three game masters were great today but special shout out to Alice from the Pigeon Forge location (where we played Kraken’s Eye) for being super personable and knowing when to hold clues and when to give them to make it a challenging but not frustrating experience. We’ve done The Kraken’s Eye, the Masters of Magic and Big Maw Bertha’s rooms today. Hoping to squeeze in Hyde House and Atlantis before we leave!

Trapped Escape Game

This evening, Trapped Escape Game was the next stop on our tour of all the escape rooms in the pigeon forge/gatlinburg area. To start, games are not labeled as private though you can pay to make it so but that adds up quick. We booked around half an hour before our game start time and arrived maybe 20 minutes prior. We were warmly greeted by our gamemaster who took us back right away to start the game (Shipwrecked). Story wise, there was a general goal but not a specific directive as to how to escape the room (ie: find certain coordinates or an object, etc). However the props and general appearance of the room did make us feel like we were on a ship. The puzzles made us think, which was great, as we love to use escape rooms to challenge our brains. Gameplay was a little underwhelming compared to some of the other games in the area. Locks were your basic find a combination and plug them in type of locks and a couple of key based locks. There’s one puzzle that is cool in concept but if done incorrectly the first time, you cannot go back and fix it or change your approach. We had to be given the answer to continue. Still a solid experience, especially for those new to escape games. For those who have played many, may be a bit lackluster.

Listed as the most challenging room at Escape LG, this was definitely one of the more involved games here. As more experienced escapers this made it more fun for us and overall we enjoyed the mix of puzzles and games. Would definitely recommend! Shout out to Will for being an excellent game master!

All of the rooms I’ve played at Escape Room NJ have been pretty good and this one is no exception. Lots of interesting puzzles that required you to take a moment to pause and think. The ending felt a little anticlimactic to me but my partner thought it was fitting. Overall really enjoyed the room and we would both recommend giving it a try.
Prohibition: The Lucky Duck Speakeasy

Of all the 60 minute rooms, this was our least favorite because the puzzles were very linear and all of it was mechanical for the most part. However it was still an all around solid room with a good story so would still recommend it.

Overall a good room, definitely need good communication and teamwork! For those who don’t like scary things there are 1-2 jump scare type moments but otherwise isn’t too bad.

Overall a good room. Lots of searching for items, less so on the puzzles. There was one activity that required placing one object on top of another to trigger an action. The sensor wasn’t working well on it so we wasted a lot of time but eventually the game master saw what was going on and activated it for us. That would be my only complaint for that room though!

Room was fairly easy but still fun. Probably not a challenge for more experienced escapers but would be great for beginners.
