The game is hard to describe without spoiling what makes it fun, but we laughed our way through this journey. The game was avatar-hosted vs avatar-led, a trend I’ve experienced in some of the best new escape rooms. By avatar hosted I mean there is an actor of sorts guiding the way and/or taking actions on the player’s behalf but not wearing a camera to give the view of the game.

This is an online version of popular Boston-based immersive theater game event, now in its 6th year and 2nd time remote. I imagine this would be really great in person, dressed up in 1940’s costumes and having drinks in a ballroom while solving riddles. Otherwise, it was a very simple game to play.
Apart in Time: A Whispering Halls AdventureEnchambered Live Escape Room Adventure - OnlineEscape roomVirtual This is a really cool 2-player online game. Each player only sees their part of the game so communication and well-coordinated interaction are key. The graphics and mechanics of play are high quality. This is part of a series of excellent games from Enchambered, but all can be played independently.
Electromagnetic FieldsYouEscape: Online Live Escape RoomEscape roomVirtual YouEscape offers an interesting premise with a monthly subscription service for online games. Your host manipulates items set on a table. You have to puzzle through these items as well as through clues and puzzles in Google doc folders created by YouEscape. It’s a really good format for remote team members playing together. We’ve played several games and they get more difficult and elaborate as you go. Different themes and puzzle types will appeal to different player’s strengths. While I enjoyed this science-based puzzle, another team member didn’t like this theme as much. The game hosts are really good and we’ve enjoyed a few laughs with them!
