The effects were super impressive, the acting was great and the integration of film clips smoothly transitioned to creat an amazing overall creepy experience. The puzzles were all unique, the room was immersive and, after playing, we were all so excited that we all stayed on zoom to talk about how great it was for quite some time afterwards.
Night TerrorsMystery Mansion Regina - OnlineEscape roomVirtual Yesterdsy my team and I had the pleasure of playing the digitally hosted game of Night Terrors at Mystery Mansion Regina . Having already played and loved both Deville’s Curio Shoppe and The Sleepy Man as live avatar games (easily two of my favourites), I was very excited to play the remaining game of the trilogy. Our whole team had an amazing time. They have gone above and beyond with Game Mastering in character and have made so many additional videos to the game that other then the fact you click to look around the room, you would think the whole game was live avatar. What a seamless transition !! This game really needs it’s own category as the story is choice driven like a Choose You Own Adventure yet it is done in such a way that it is totally immersive. This is for sure by FAR my favourite digital game yet but please know that it really deserves it’s own category as it plays so much more like an incredibly immersive live avatar.
Evil Dead 2 - RemoteHourglass Escapes - OnlineEscape roomVirtual I have played well over 150 virtual games this past year alone and Evil Dead 2 is easily one my very favourites. I know that it is also one of the higher priced virtual room escapes out there and, to be honest, this was the reason it actually took me a while to book it as I felt being virtual, it was a big risk for such a high cost but let me tell you, this room is an absolute must for fans of the Evil Dead franchise ! For starters, the reasoning behind the higher cost is that this room is fully licensed. Representatives from the studio that made the film actually visited the location to approve the room. The owner had to make sure each and every detail matched the movie right down to the smallest details you likely would not even notice like the colour of the cupboard and angles of the shutters on the wall ! He also needs to pay to keep and renew the license to run the room and had hired established actors to record scenes (not from ED but from other films) and actual established special effects crew to create many of the effects. This room was over the top AMAZING !! My experience in the cabin was so exciting I was on a playing high for days after thinking about how much fun it was . The puzzles are great, the room is immersive and the effects are by far some of the best I have ever seen. If you are in or near Seattle, please go play this on in person for me but if you aren’t, this room is done so well you will still throughly enjoy the movie quality effects and battling those Kandarians from home as well ! Super groovy !
Sleepy ManMystery Mansion Regina - OnlineEscape roomVirtual The third part in the Sleepy Man Trilogy I played this game as a live avatar. It was incredibly immersive , unique and creepy. The whole trilogy is great !!
La Ricerca Del Manufatto Magico [The Search For The Magical Artifact]Bruum Escape OnlineEscape roomVirtual My team and I joined this game with a slightly skeptical outlook given the seemingly unoriginal , uninspiring title of this game. That feeling was instantly dispelled as we met our game master. His story and acting added so much to the game and the fact that his entire game takes place in a portable caravan is incredible!! There are so very many puzzles to solve given the small space and some of the puzzles are quite unique and memorable. The storyline is actually quite cute and the game has just the right amount of challenge. Additionally, the owner/host is incredibly accommodating no matter what your timezone and spent a lot of time answering our questions and talking with us afterwards. An overall incredibly pleasant experience !
SteampunkLost Escape Online Escape roomVirtual Lost Escape is one of the hardly spoken of hidden gems in the room escape community. Steam Punk is an incredibly unique and challenging room. Not only is the theme unlike any I have played before but the whole room layout and props are absolutely phenomenal ! Without giving anything away I will just say that the room completely fits the the theme and the whole time we played, every member of our team would randomly express how impressed they were with the room and how much they wished they could be there in person to see and work with the puzzles themselves. I definitely recommend this one !!
Project Avatar: First MissionProject Avatar - OnlineEscape roomVirtual Project Avatar First Mission is one of the most amazing immersive experiences I have ever had. A year and a half later, myself and my team are still talking about how great it was. First Mission was an incredibly immersive game with a super unique blend of video game and room escape. Without giving too much away, the game took place in an abandoned train station as well as outside the location and the avatar required health and energy to explore the location as well as health kits when injured. It had film clips perfectly integrated into the storyline and was by fsr the most unique experience I have had to date. There will be a new segment of this storyline coming soon and I strongly suggest anyone looking for a completely first person styled , video game type experience, you should definitely keep an eye out for it !!
D'vile's Curio ShoppeMystery Mansion Regina - OnlineEscape roomVirtual D’bille’s Curio Shoppe was a very unique and pleasant surprise. When the game first started, our whole team on first impression thought that the room looked very plain and uninspired. We could not have been more wrong. This game had some great effects, really interesting puzzles and quite an intriguing storyline. After playing this game, we instantly wanted to play the other games in this trilogy. You can certainly play any of them as stand alone games but the story pulls you in that much that you want to see and play it all.
Pabaiga? [The End?]Lost Escape Online Escape roomVirtual Once again Lost Escape has provided a unique and immersive experience! The props looked great, the game master was amazing and the special effects translated well over the computer as well.
Rise of the Mad Pharaoh - RemoteHourglass Escapes - OnlineEscape roomVirtual Rise of the Mad Pharoah is a phenomenal looking room ! I played it as a live avatar and it was super unique in that players are assigned certain roles with responsibilities and their own unique inventory items for solving. There are many different kinds of puzzles and the room as a while is quite challenging but thoroughly enjoyable. This room can be played in person, virtually with an avatar or online as a stand alone digital game.
