Virtual ExorcistEmergency Exit Escape Room - OnlineEscape roomVirtual Played this during the Pandemic in the middle of the Halloween season, and I'm glad we did. It was a scary ride, but it was the hosts who made it memorable. The game master had charming and witty narration, and the cameraperson had some funny and surprising moments.
The Shop of TheseusRECONEscape roomVirtual An amazingly clever and fun audio escape room. Mark Larson is a great GM who can play off of our team's ideas, no matter how wild they may be. Best played with a curious group with a big imagination. The way the jokes, references, and shop tied together was sublime.
Avatar Stalker Phase OneProject Avatar - OnlineEscape roomVirtual Avatar was an exciting and creative take on the remote escape room experience. Teams take control of an Avatar in order to explore a vibrant sprawling cyberpunk themed world. The entire format felt like a live action video game, with multiple quests and hidden surprises. The team utilized the camera and HUD effectively, while marking areas and interactive objects with symbols, all making the game as seamless as possible for remote players. The atmosphere, setting, character interactions, and even the way the Avatar moves is highly animated, further intensifying the fun immersive action. The only caution I would advise is to avoid this game if you suffer from motion sickness while playing first-person video games, as it involves a lot of camera movement. [This was a recollection review, as I played in 2021 and reviewed in 2023]
