Closing January 5 - Hattori "The Demon" Hanzo, also known as Hattori Masanari, was a famous ninja/samurai in the 1500's. He was a master tactician and became the ruler of the Iga clan. Tales of his exploits were often attributed to various supernatural abilities, such as disappearing and appearing elsewhere, psychokinesis, and precognition. He was a master of spear fighting and died at the age of 55. Hanzo’s remains now rest in the Sainen-ji temple cemetery in Yotsuya, Tokyo. The temple holds his favorite spear and his ceremonial battle helmet. However, his sword, a precious possession to any samurai, has been lost. A private collector has contracted Back In Time to travel back to 1592 and attempt to acquire Hanzo's sword before it is lost and forgotten. Be warned, however! The supernatural has always been prevalent in Japanese culture.... Will the spirits help or hinder you in your recovery efforts? Find out if you and your team have what it takes to recover this valuable artifact before it is lost to history... And be sure to not become part of history yourself! Sign up for this mission now!

76 escape rooms
The build of this room is simple and effective. Though the puzzles are linear, they’re never boring. The biggest downside to the puzzles were how similar they are to each other. Many of them found you finding the right symbols/Japanese characters and equating that something else to solve something and move forward. The rooms opens up creatively and you can’t predict where things are going to progress. They use every aspect of the room which I always appreciate and a lack of word and number locks works appropriately as well based on the theming and time period. Rooms like these inspire me to build my own and give me confirmation and confidence you can make a good room without it being too complex or expensive.

Had a nice variety of puzzles that had us thinking! Great fun for the four of us.

The game was very puzzle heavy, and there is no need for reading, so it is easier for non English speakers. The set design was underwhelming but still immersive. It wouldn’t be my top choice when looking to do an Escape room, but was fun nonetheless.

Fantastic attention to detail, great puzzles, and what a super fun concept for the escape room company. We had a blast, and have since come back to check out another of their games, and got a gift card to apply towards future games as well, when friends and family are in town.

Decently difficult game. No text in the room, great for non-english players

Cute game. Not super ornate set design, but fun puzzles.

Really fun escape room that was samurai themed. There were some really cool mechanical parts involving some of the pieces you find. One puzzle in particular made us ask for our one hint. I really liked the theme of jumping back in time to find the sword of Hanzo. There were some jump scares, but you laughed them off right after. Definitely recommend this one.
Some puzzles were obvious, but there was one really clever one that required our one and only one hint.
Loved the samurai theme!

This is definitely one of my favorite rooms for how immersive it is. The atmosphere was great and our GM made it very fun! A unique way of solving puzzles as you just need to pay more attention to detail and look around. Would definitely recommend!

Sword of Hattori Hanzo is a gorgeous samurai themed room. Every element was thoughtfully related to the time period. The room was totally immersive and all the puzzles were intricate mechanical challenges. The room was hard, but followed a logical progression. A solid medium difficulty, but felt easy because the narrative was laid out so well. Everything worked and the GM was great. A few of the puzzles were particularly well conceived and we’re still talking about them weeks later.

We usually do rooms with our sons, but this time we played with another couple. I really like how the puzzles are designed in this room, not a lot of explanation, just look around and figure out the associations. Definitely some more challenging puzzles included.
