The Black Widow was created back when this location was owned by Escape Quest. It has a more old-school design, with a lot of physical locks. I played in a group of 2, which felt like a good number, but I think an ideal size is 3-4, as there are some challenging puzzles/tasks that would be more easily solved with a couple extra minds/eyes/hands. While I do think there’s a noticeable difference when comparing this game to an Encrypted original, like Biker’s Revenge, it’s still well designed. After chatting with the GM, Jeffrey, afterwards, it’s clear that Encrypted is putting in a lot of effort into elevating the inherited Escape Quest games. They are ensuring that storylines make logical sense, the experience is immersive front to back, and the quality is more consistent across all rooms. We had a lot of fun in The Black Widow and definitely felt challenged. I loved the set, soundtrack, and premise. I’d recommend this game to anyone! And if you have a chance, chat with the staff, they are all great.

A solid room room for beginners but pros will find it too easy. We did it with 7 people and that was way too many folks. 5 people feels right. The flow of puzzles is great for 5 people. I agree with the reviewer that says this room is showing it's age. The tech is there but not outstanding. Overall a solid game but not a must do.

Gameplay

It flowed well and the puzzles are probably good for beginners. But each puzzle ended up being too easy for our group

The room is definitely campy. I misread the theme when I came in and was expecting a spy game, so was very unprepared for a serial murderer. Set and decor not as strong as Expedition Unknown, but I thought the puzzles were a little better. The staff was very very kind to us, as my younger daughter was too scared to play - they let her hang out in the lobby while we completed the room.

This one took some creative thinking but flowed well. Did need to use most hints. Paul said this room was hard but cool, Tyler said it was cool and is looking forward to the next one. I liked it, a few sticking points for puzzles that needed a different creative thinking perspective. We recommend this location!

Pretty cool room, nice design like you are in the widow's lair sort of.

Customer service

Honor was fun, friendly and helpful. Cool dude!

Particularly interesting or different

No

Cool but nothing mind blowingly awesome. I'm comparing to my roughly 200 rooms completed. This was creative and well done but nothing super different that stood out like a puzzle feature I haven't seen before for example.

Difficulty

Hard

You can get stuck on some of the puzzle pieces but once you wrap your head around them or get a clue to adjust your perspective if thinking they flow pretty smoothly. Well done! Fun puzzles!

Game tech

Mostly locks with some magnet releases.

Ideal number of players

3

We had 3 which was perfect, 4 could work but 5 people may step on each other trying to experience everything.

We had a 15 year old with us that has done over 30 rooms and he was solving puzzles on his own. A nunber took the 3 of us to solve.

Accessibility

I was on a rolling cart with my leg in a soft cast and was able to do most everything. The last space I would just look from your chair. You'll harly miss a thing.
