Sinwood, England, 1954. As plenty of women go missing in both the town and its surroundings, frightened locals start to suspect that these events are somehow related to an old, abandoned hotel on a hill by the forest. According to folk tales about the area, the spot where the Victorian boarding house was built has been possessed by evil for centuries. Due to that, no citizen of Sinwood has ever come near the place… Finally, you arrive at the front gate. The porch, in the dim light of a dusty lantern, makes you feel overwhelmed by a whirl of conflicting emotions as you’re both curious and… suddenly anxious. Still, you decide to set foot in the building and face the evil lurking inside. However, before you even touch the old brass door knocker, you suddenly hear a voice of a woman calling you from within the hotel walls… Are you ready for 101 minutes of an unforgettable experience? Will you be able to solve a mystery that petrifies the residents of Sinwood? The Abandoned Hotel, the newest room of Exit19.pl, is where the distinction between facts and fiction becomes especially blurred…

This has definitely made it into my top 5. The perfect amount of tension without being actively horror, great set design, and awesome puzzles. They have used the space so well, and we were surprised with each new space. The use of the actor was perfect, and an integral part to the story (not a scare gimmick). Find a way to do this room if you’re ever close!

The game was mysterious in very nice way. I especially appreciate the different rooms. Each room felt very real. Like real hotel. Even the temperature was so that it would fit the specific room. But I never really felt safe in any of them. The puzzles were really nicely done. Not just the materials but also how you were supposed to use them was really nice. We really had to stop and think things through a few times. But that was because we missed a piece of the puzzle. VERY GOOD GAME. I can't even express how much I liked it.

Abandoned Hotel: Extremely good at direction. They have light sensors dictating what was useful and what was not. There was only 1 time in which we said “what do we have to interact with” and it was an oversight on our end. Incredible set design. Maybe slightly too easy of puzzles imo. But an absolute masterclass in direction of what to do next and how to solve puzzles. Amsterdamesque to say the least regarding its thriller/suspense and objective flow. Very scary for a “spooky ranking” - I would argue it borders on actively scary. 😱
