Escape From Alcatraz

This is clearly an older style escape room, which I don’t love. It’s mainly three puzzles but in order to solve them you have to connect some dots or find items where it feels more like you have to get lucky. We spent almost half our time in the first room because we didn’t spot something. Also, my friend grabbed a live slug out of a hole in the wall while searching for clues. This really did feel like alcatraz in that sense :)

Decent room but wish it had a few more puzzles. We got stalled on something a little silly in hindsight but still got out with decent time to spare. BUT I did accidentally grab a live slug not knowing what it was in this room which was a little gross.

This was the most on theme jail escape room I’ve ever done. Truly felt like I was in jail. Definitely an older room. On the much lower side for rooms I’ve done.

Damp basement, tired props. The game was fine but it needs some TLC and a fresh air supply.

Escape from Alcatraz: Handcuffed and locked in a cell, we had 60 minutes to fly the coop before the guards returned. Blind Tiger: Our first task was to discover the secret location of the 1920s speakeasy. Once accomplished, we had the more difficult job of trying to identify the identity of the seven mafioso who operated the illegal business. Escape from Antique Room - Searching for the stolen Mona Lisa, our group was on the tracks of an art dealer who was suspected of the crime. Pros: Escape SF had very good set design in most of their rooms. We especially liked the speakeasy feeling and layout of Blind Tiger. Some unique surprises in Blind Tiger and the Antique Room kept us intrigued the whole way. The puzzles were logical overall. We easily progressed through the Alcatraz room but struggled more with the puzzles in Blind Tiger. The game master was very attentive, intervening when we were clearly stuck and providing helpful hints along the way. The puzzles ranged in type and complexity but were quite solvable. The storyline was basic but the cool sets pulled us into the game. Cons: The only cons at this place was the complexity of some of the puzzles especially in Blind Tiger. But the challenge was great and the game master kept us moving along. In the end, the set experience made it worth the frustration caused by the difficult puzzles.

Room is in the basement. Old but goes with the theme. Humid. Definitely felt like a prisoner of Alcatraz. I don’t know how, but I walked out with a bleach stain on the pocket of my shirt.

It's not often that I get handcuffed to a wall.

This game really shows its age. The set is thematic, but the ceiling was leaking. The puzzles were fair but relied on certain dexterity skill which feels unfair. It's unclear sometimes what is part of the game and what isn't. Still good for me overall.

Some pretty good puzzles, but there was one that I thought was kinda dumb and needed a hint for. Beginning part is cool, very jail-like theme. Room feels pretty old though.

Some of the puzzles were well done, but I didn’t enjoy being in the room because of the atmosphere. Things were damp and it was hard to breathe. We felt gross afterwards and both went to wash our hands immediately.
