3 escape rooms
How many rooms? 3 How many played with? 2 Total People Price? $35 a person Room Immersion: 6.9/10 The audio playing in the background is a simple, but helpful immersive touch, but the room is meant to feel like a bar in the 50s-60s, and while there’s elements present, the props are the only thing really setting in the immersion. One room makes the use of brick-wallpaper, but most room have posters in the wall that aren’t even relevant to the puzzles and are instead random blueprints from the era. Some of the props that are using the puzzles to match the era of the room. Puzzles: 6.1/10 The puzzles in the room made good use of the props that match the era/theme of the room, such as a rotary phone, and liquor bottles. However, many of the puzzles struggle with the logical stepping of how they’re solved. As I imagine, it’s probably very hard to come up with puzzles for escape rooms, because you have to make challenging puzzles, but in ways that can be logically followed, rather than having to expect the participants to make logical jumps to complete certain puzzles. Not all of them struggle with this, but some of them do, which can be troubling, especially when you only have an hour. There’s also nothing wrong with combination lock, but this room genuinely has too many. I think from memory, they were about 10 to 12 different combination locks that had to be completed. There were a few other locks as well, but there needs to be a better mix. Staff/gamemaster: 9.5/10 We were coming later in the evening, and no one else was there. There was one worker at the current moment, who was very attentive and helpful. She communicated the escape room rules, quickly and effectively, and make sure to ask how and when we wanted our hints. during the game, if she saw, we were falling behind, she would ask if we wanted a hint via typing on the screen before just giving us on. The nudges we did receive, were helpful without giving away the answer. Overall Difficulty: 8.1/10 (sort of) As I said, certain puzzles made irregular logical jumps that made the room more difficult than it was needed to be, but some of the puzzles that were challenging, were genuinely well made. I would say most of the difficulty comes from the jumps and logic, however, Which makes it feel like a cheap version of a harder difficulty rather than a truly difficult escape room. I think this could’ve been alleviated by switching out some of the combination, lock puzzles, for other puzzles where you would instead get a key, or other solution. When you’re giving so many numbers at once, especially when they’re all for different puzzles at different points throughout the rooms, it feels more overwhelming rather than difficult. Would I recommend this room? The staff make this place what it is, without them, I don’t feel it would be as enjoyable. If you live within 30 minutes, and you and a few friends need something fun to do, this room will definitely give you a good time, especially for a more affordable price when it comes to escape rooms.
