At first I gave wild heart Ranch a like rating, but the more I thought about it the more I realize I loved it. The puzzles here aren’t that numerous and are fairly simple (though silas's puzzle is pretty cool), but they are very thematic and makes sense in the flow of the story. What makes wild heart Ranch so unique is that it is an experience that you live in. In most escape rooms you finish the room and then you basically leave immediately. What this place does different is give you a chance to finish the experience and then live in it and feel as if you’re part of the experience. It is not about escaping, but about discovering, with themes of family, wonder and mystery. While I can’t say it’s the best Airbnb nor is it the best escape room I’ve played, but what I can say is that wild heart Ranch is incredibly unique and worth doing, especially with your family.

A truly whimsical experience. To be able to roam a 40-acre property to solve puzzles and explore a family’s story was an out of this world experience. Not to mention, the Airbnb itself is wonderfully decorated with great amenities.

A truly must try experience! We had such an amazing time that I am writing this extremely well deserved review almost two years later after finally downloading the Morty app. Not only is this an amazing place to stay, but the lovingly created and incredibly sprawling and unique puzzles kept us amazed an entertained throughout the weekend. As avid escape roomers, this was one of our all time favorite experiences.

Gameplay

Amazingly unique, inventive, fun, and engaging. Could not recommend more highly for puzzlers of all experience levels.

By far, this was the most unforgettable and unique Airbnb experience I’ve enjoyed. The stay features two cabins on a ranch filled with rich lore and a blend of fact and fiction. The desert artistry combined with the area's culture of alien sightings makes it a must-visit destination for seasoned adventurers and curious minds. One of the standout elements is the immersive puzzle experience woven into the stay. Multiple storylines are in play, each one tied to the unique personalities of the family whose stories unfold as you explore. Each room reflects the distinct traits and interests of these characters, making every discovery feel intentional and meaningful. Our group of eight loved collaborating on the puzzles together, following the clues, and solving the mysteries of the ranch. Unlike traditional escape rooms, there’s no time limit, which allows you to fully appreciate the history, savor the puzzles, and immerse yourself in the world that’s been crafted. Every reveal feels rewarding, and each new clue brought so much excitement to our group as it unlocked new rooms and worlds to explore. It’s clear that a lot of heart and thought went into the design of this experience. Side Note: Aurora's room is an inaccessible supply closet, and NOT PART OF THE GAME which had us wondering for an hour if it was part of the puzzle until we messaged the very responsive host of that little hiccup. This experience is a hidden gem tucked into the heart of the desert. If you’re looking for something immersive, creative, and completely out of the ordinary, this is it. Absolutely magical and worth every moment. Our group of 8 made a weekend stay, and spent an evening on it. Note: gameplay can be done anytime, and spaced out throughout your time of stay, but I highly recommend playing in the evening dark underneath the night sky full of stars, and just done in one go.

Such an unforgettable experience! This isn't a typical escape room, but rather a highly immersive story told through a sequences of mysteries and puzzles. This was unlike any other experience we've had before! The story-telling and the setting enhanced the experience so much, and a lot of the charm was in how immersive and well-themed the whole property was. Be prepared that this is definitely in the dessert, and much of the adventure takes place outdoors. It's easier during the day, but the nighttime stars made it way more fun at night! This made it way more memorable for us, but definitely bring lots of water and the proper footgear! Like everyone else shared, this is such a unique and unrivalled experience. We were glad we had booked 2 nights and wished we'd had more time to enjoy more of what the property had to offer, as well as the nearby Joshua Tree National Park! You can tell that Blake and Bea have a knack for story-telling and creativity in general! Thanks for everything!!

This game was a treat. Not having a time limit made it so we could finish a puzzle and then go in a hot tub or cook dinner or take a hike. It was so relaxing. The puzzles were the perfect difficulty for a vacation. And the place is so well curated that just sitting around listening to the in game radio station was fun.

Gameplay

It was such a relaxed pace that it took us a few evenings to finish it which was super nice for a vacation.

Atmosphere

This place is a vibe. And I have never used that phrase for anything else in my life. So much attention paid to set decorations that also had to be functional since it’s a house you’re staying in. I can’t remember if I’ve ever used a push button stove before but it was a treat!

WHR is truly a one-of-a-kind experience! It's not quite an escape room, but something else entirely. It's a unique format that I haven't seen before. The story of the Hart family is there for you to discover during your stay, and the secrets you uncover are pretty magical. If you're on this site, and a visit to WHR is possible for you, you definitely should go. It's great!

Gameplay

Most of the puzzles and gameplay is on the simple side, which I think is a positive for this format. Everyone can participate, regardless of their prior experience with escape rooms.

Atmosphere

The decor and style of the ranch is fantastic. Look at any photos that have been posted to see what I mean. I expected quite a few padlocks and boxes and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of tech involved.

Customer service

There's no real GM...but the hosts are definitely responsive if you need anything.

Wow! Incredible and unique experience. Not an escape room but more like a treasure hunt around the houses and property. Get ready for a gentle hike through the desert! We thought it would be all indoors and it was not so plan your schedule accordingly

Wild Heart Ranch is a really special stay. The house is designed immaculately, and the narrative of the Hart family is the perfect level of engaging. From the moment you walk in, it's so clear of the intentionality behind the entire experience. As an immersive producer, I've been wanting to go for quite some time and I went to celebrate my 40th birthday, and I can't imagine a more wonderful experience. Such a stand-out. Do not hesitate to book, particularly if you've never made it to Joshua Tree/29 Palms. Let this be the thing that brings you out; if that was all that was there, it would be worth it. The desert, and Wild Heart Ranch, are both clearly magical places. The puzzles were accessible for I suspect any level (particularly with a group of 4 or more *someone* is going to figure each step out) and I loved the surprises waiting for you throughout the experience. While there are some notes to consider doing the puzzle portion of the stay at night, we started just a bit before dusk and found it to be a perfect timeline for it all. Definitely worth the drive and I'll be on watch for anything Blake and Bea build in the future!

Gameplay
Atmosphere

Atmosphere is the absolute standout here. I don't like to describe things as "vibey" but boy howdy this is vibey in the best way.

Customer service

No GM to speak of in this but Blake is a very responsive host. I suspect if we'd had any need for hints he would have gotten back to us quickly.
