This room is instantly added to my list of all time favorite escape rooms. Love a room that does not use any locks. Every puzzle was super unique and is solved in FUN ways! Definitely a memorable experience.

The Sir Walter Hotel served as a focal point for North Carolina political activity during the 1930s. The state election of 1928 remains to be one of the most questionable elections that North Carolina has ever seen. With 60 minutes on the clock, your mission in the Hotel is to undermine the party’s convention and compromise the outcome of this election.

The Sir Walter Speakeasy was such a fantastic experience! The atmosphere was immersive, and the puzzles were some of the most challenging we’ve encountered—we barely escaped with just the two of us. Even as very experienced players, we found ourselves working hard the entire time, which made the victory that much sweeter. With 3–4 experienced players, the room would be more manageable, but it was still incredibly fun and full of things to do. Definitely a must-try for anyone looking for a true challenge in an escape room!

For a good affordable game, this one is pretty fun. I have heard their other rooms are better and I will definitely give those a try next time. This is a pretty affordable escape room and for someone that is new to escape rooms. This is a good place to start.

Gameplay was good not amazing.
It was nice because the building is old so it made it feel a little bit more authentic
We kind of showed up last minute after doing a different game at a different location and they were very welcoming and accepting since they had the space. The game master was incredibly nice and was incredibly helpful.
Yes
Yeah, it was pretty interesting. I’ve done a lot of games and a lot of different states and countries and this was the first time I had done this concept.
The story was sort of lacking. I kind of had an understanding of what we were doing everything for. But I didn’t really get it. It wasn’t immersive. I just felt like I was trying to solve puzzles.
Medium
It wasn’t necessarily incredibly difficult. It took us a while to get started, but after that, everything went pretty seamlessly.
Mechanical
A lot of the components felt very old. I had seen a single component that I had never seen in another room that was kind of technical and I liked it. Otherwise it was all very DIY.
4
I would say a minimum of four it would probably be more difficult with less people because it is not linear at all. There is a lot of stuff to do at the same time if you wanna finish with a good time.
Not scary
There is no scare aspect or spooky aspect to this room.
15
There is a lot of thinking involved so I don’t think I would recommend this for anybody less than high school age.
No
I wouldn’t say anything was broken just old. Some of the doors had to be forced open and felt like they were gonna break when you were pulling on them. There was a specific piece of the set that didn’t work anywhere close to as well as I would have hoped.
No
The game master was there, but that’s pretty normal.
Somewhat
There is definitely a bit of walking around that needs to be done.
Not at all in no way is any part of this room accessible. Lighting tends to be difficult in some situations. This is probably one of the least handy capable rooms I’ve ever done. For somebody that is physically handicapped to manage this room as there is a lot of high stepping that needs to be done. A lot of the stuff that needs to be read is incredibly difficult to read if anybody has a visual impairment.
Yes
Yeah, their whole thing is a giant old tower and it’s pretty noticeable from the street.
Easy
There’s a large parking lot next to the facility.

Some of the puzzles were unreliable and the story was fairly minimal and wasn't too immersive. It was still a decent experience.

Overall the location was so cool and loved the history element. But the game/room itself didn’t really have a great story or flow. This was challenging due to a lot of the effects not working correctly. Because the story was missing when stuff wasn’t working it just make everything more confusing. The customer service was really great and they helped reset some of the technical issues and ended up giving us 5 extra minutes and we appreciate that.

Needed to go to ONE escape room while I was out visiting Raleigh this weekend — Sir Walter’s Speakeasy was the one that piqued my interest the most. So I grabbed my motley crew and we tackled it. Fun room, fairly difficult puzzles, not much of a thorough flow by any means. Truthfully, when you enter, there is MUCH to be desired, and you sort of feel like there’s nothing happening. As you progress, you’ll find more and more little things appear, so not all is lost. The experienced escape room lover will definitely be perplexed and feel a sense of ease here. Definitely had fun.

Decent. Gives Gen 2 vibes.
With all due respect, it was basic.
Our GM was lovely. Very nice.
High tech
I only say “High Tech” because of a few things — but it’s on a more mechanical side, for sure. Only a couple tech style of things.

This room has so much potential. The stand out are the puzzles. Everything else from the flow, to the storyline needs some form of clarity and/or a overhaul to really make it top notch. The game master was nice and the customer service was great.
Little bare bones. Wish their was more.

Hard
Unless you have done some escape room before, then this room can be challenging if not paying attention and reading carefully.

I overall enjoyed the room! There was some puzzles in the room that I felt were overly confusing and needed a lot of explanation in order to make sense! There were also some very unique puzzles in the room though!
Interesting puzzles I haven’t seen before.
Not the most immersive room, but not the worst!
VERY friendly staff!
I loved how the history of Raleigh was incorporated into the room!

I hate to say I didn’t like this room at all, but unfortunately that was the case. There were some cool puzzles In there but the room had zero flow. There wasn’t any clue on what to actually do and when we did get an answer or code, no idea on where or how to put it in, even if there were instructions saying how to. Things were reused over and over which makes me feel this was thrown together sadly. I really hoped for more for such a cool building.
No
Hard
This was difficult in that there’s no direction to the room. I felt like nothing clued us in on what to do next. Zero flow whatsoever.

This is a fun theme with some very unique clues. I’m not sure if I fully followed the story line or understood how the clues connected but we still enjoyed ourselves.
