Blackbeard is dead, his loot lies unguarded. Sink or swim? It’s up to you. Step onto a pirate galleon in the middle of a battle for control of the High Seas. Your captain, the terrifying Blackbeard, has just been killed and his ship is shot to pieces and sinking fast. With no chance of victory, you and your scurvy shipmates decide to jump ship – after helping yourself to the contents of Blackbeard’s legendary treasure chest. You’ve broken into his cabin to grab all you can, but now the door has jammed shut and you’ve just 60 minutes to escape; any longer and you’ll drown – if the sharks don’t get you first.

Escape Hunt fails yet again. I’m going to do them all just to hope there’s a good one. And then maybe the owner can take the money we paid and fix the broken rooms. Multiple broken puzzles in this one like their other ones. One was a game of skill that was reduced to a completely try a random thing until you win because the skill component was broken. One puzzle in the second room required an item obscured and very well hidden from the first room. This is the worst design in my book. Completing a room should complete that room. Didn’t know we had to “go back to look at the other room” but that was the clue we got. One puzzle is find things scattered so make sure you check EVERYWHERE if you’re stuck, check the corners and floors. There are no flashlights and it’s very dark. One puzzle in particular had two solutions for a lock combo, so the clue we got was “you have it right just rearrange the numbers” and finally another puzzle didn’t fully open the thing it was supposed to open, it opened once we shook the prop… and worse, today I got an Instagram ad that said “new room” called “Pirate Adventure” by Escape Hunt and I only went to hope they built a new and good one. The GM told me it was Blackbeard’s treasure just with just a new name. No changes but the same yet it’s marketed as new. They just renamed the crappy Samurai one too so I bet there were no improvements there at all. The name change was the final straw and doing this as a marketing ploy to bait us to spend money is just dishonest. Overall this particular broken room was a complete disappointment and ranks as one of my least favorite rooms ever and Escape Hunt now ranks as the worst escape room company I’ve been to.

Gameplay

The flow was the worst part. Clues in the first room carry over to the second room. This is a huge no no in escape rooms imo. When you complete a room it should be done.

Atmosphere

This was great for a pirate theme at least the set was well made

The room as a whole was good, just be sure to check in the shadows! There was one puzzle that was not fully working but was still able to complete and another puzzle that was a little more confusing that I would have preferred though it was still good
