Once upon a time…. …there was an old run-down house where some children lived with their foul aunt and uncle. Whenever they were left in the house, they were locked in the living room and longed to escape to a happier place. They puzzled over a curious locked door in the corner of the room, from behind which they had heard laughing and screams of joy. They fantasized about the fun they could have in that room, and that just maybe the way to escape their misery lay beyond. One day the aunt and uncle left the children and told them they would be back in an hour’s time. The children decided this was the time to find a way into the forbidden room of fun, and possibly find a way to escape…

I think Alex has created a little gem here. There really aren’t many rooms that feel great for a family. The room has 3 difficulty levels. Even with helping and encouraging Hattie (age 7) we could have managed the hard mode and still completed It. Medium was fine for today though. There’s a nice mix of Search and find, logic and mechanical puzzles (these were my favourite, a bit crystal maze-esque). Even set to hard, I think most experienced escapers will get through at a good pace - there’s nothing super complex, but this room is not about records, it’s about nostalgia and overall a bit of fun. Bravo. Glad to hear there’s a sequel coming.
We did this as a family room, it flowed nicely and had a lovely mix of thinky puzzles and mechanical puzzles.
Cute and quirky set design. Suits the room.
Alex was great for us. Also, we were a bit early and he started us a little early. 👍🏼

As long as supported and supervised by some encouraging adults, any child who can read could play the room. We adjusted accordingly for our 7 year old - she does search and find, opening locks, matching puzzles, counting, etc. if you wanted to introduce some young teens to escape rooms, this is a great example of where to start.
