Asylum

Full disclosure, we we're supposed to play this room. We had booked another but after frustration in our lack of success in Zombie, we pivoted to this game at the suggestion of our host, who explained that since it's a smaller room, with less to do, it might be easier for us that the Mummy themed room (of the same difficulty but much larger, made for more players). This was the first time I realized that even though two people can technically play a game, some games are engineered for bigger groups, with the sheer amount to accomplish is difficult, even for clever, experienced duos. Anyway...we started off great. We each took on some different tasks, even though we typically don't like to divide and conquer (I like to see alllll the puzzles and details). A mostly positive experience, but it was really a stretch to say we got our money’s worth. I don’t mind if there are challenging puzzles—that’s kinda the point—but when the challenge is that the puzzle isn’t right and key info isn’t legible, that’s not my idea of fun.

Game was awful. So many things broken. Puzzles didn’t make sense. Awful flow. Terrible ending. Had zero fun. Not normally one to write reviews like this but I wanted to leave that room from the moment it started.

Such a fun room! Super spooky and well themed. Puzzles were difficult and tedious, but engaging. Some issues with rubbed off numbers, broken flashlights, and hard-to-trigger effects led us to not making it out, but that doesn’t stop me from giving this room a high score. Those jump-scares got me!

Great atmosphere! Puzzles were well connected and flowed through the room. Would have been nice to have some jump scares, but understandable when there isn’t enough workers for each room. Great staff!

My favorite game at this location and I played all. Super fun,scary and unpredictable! Be sure to ask for max scares!

I think our experience was shaded by the fact that they advertised the room to be private but we were booked with 5 other people that were not very serious (and slightly intoxicated) about the escape room. All in all the room was okay but there were puzzles that we didn’t even get to see due to the others in the room. I really want to love this room but I still am confused as to how we were paired with others.
