School of magic seems to be a decent game if everything were to go as intended, which unfortunately it did not.
There were two technical difficulties during the game: one of the solutions wasn’t working as intended, and we were asked to leave the game for about 5 minutes as they tried to fix the issue, which they couldn’t on the spot, so they let us into the next room. Further on in the game, there was also a problem with an audio based puzzle, where wrong audio cues were played, sometimes overlapping each other.
At the end of the game, an object we had to find was missing. The Game Masters got quite rude while they were giving hints when we said the object isn’t where they said. After a few minutes the puzzle was solved remotely, without us doing anything. After the game, the game master couldn’t tell us where the missing object was…
Over all the game masters seemed very overworked, as they had very little time to attend to the groups that were there, and we had to sometimes wait a while to hear anything back when asking for hints.
Overall, the decorations were great, and the game itself is decent if everything works. Considering the technical difficulties and the stressed staff, and with the world class games you can play elsewhere in Vienna, I’d recommend skipping No Way Out.
Particularly interesting or different
No
The solution one tech puzzle didn’t work, so we were asked to leave the room for 5 minutes, after which it still didn’t work and they just opened the next door for us. Some audio problems in an audio puzzle. There was also one object missing which was needed to complete the game.
