Really fun room, even if it’s a little more basic in its design than some of the other experiences at Omescape. Very glad I could play it before it closed, cannot wait to see what Omescape cooks up next!

Gameplay

Gameplay is extremely linear, but I thought the puzzles were really fun and stayed in theme well. One item was used more than once, even though we were told clues and locks were one time use at the start, but that’s a very minor annoyance in an otherwise fun room.

Atmosphere

The overall design is a little more simplistic than other rooms I’ve played at Omescape, but it still did a great job at feeling as immersive and whimsical as the theme calls for.

Customer service

Staff was extremely welcoming and attentive throughout our experience

Kingdom of Cats: Trapped in a kingdom of felines, we were compelled to compete in a tournament to crown the wisest cat in the kingdom. The only way to escape perpetual imprisonment was to compete alongside our feline friends. Dark Altar: We found ourselves trapped inside the Copenheimer Museum where an archaeology obsessed collector had initiated a dark ritual. Our goal was to work our way through the museum to discover and stop the ritual. Joker's Asylum: A maniacal Joker was locked away in an asylum after a tragic incident at the circus. The Joker had escaped. We were tasked with discovering the Joker's secrets and escaping the asylum. Pandemic Zero: A super virus has sickened the city. We must break into the lab and finish work on the cure. Pros: The physical layout of Omescape from the waiting area to the game-play areas is clean, orderly and visually appealing. The puzzles are mostly linear, less about searching and more about thinking critically. Set-design is appealing and clearly tied to the overarching storyline. The games are scaled at different difficulty levels and geared toward different group sizes. Game moderators can be helpful and willing to provide assistance if asked. Cons: The puzzles in their rooms tend to be geometrical or symbol-based. We found the puzzles quite complex in all three games and extremely difficult to solve without assistance from the game masters. Scaling of the puzzles within each individual game could have helped us with the puzzle-solving process. Overall, we find their games overly complex. The friendliness of the game masters and their willingness to offer relevant clues helped prevent frustration and a complete mental melt-down of players.

I was hoping for a lot more given the cat theme. However was unfortunately disappointed. There were some puzzles that could've worked better I feel.

This is a pretty old escape room, so the set design was lacking (especially compared to newer rooms from this company). The puzzles were also pretty easy for experienced players. Omescape has so many great rooms, I'd recommend forgoing this one and doing the others!

Creative room with different puzzles to solve. Linear game that’s perfect for a small group. Family friendly with multiple doors to go through.

Was a very solid room, and the theme helps it stand out. Experienced players might find it a bit lackluster but there are very few rooms in the area that support two players, and this is worth doing if your team is very small. Good one for beginners.

Gameplay

There are two puzzles that stand out in my head as memorable and clever. There were no BAD puzzles but a week later I couldn't remember what most of them were. We found lots of numbers to put into lots of keypads. A bigger problem for me was that player teamwork didn't seem to be built in to the experience well. There just wasn't much call for real teamwork and there were times when the two of us actually got in each others' way (like when Josh was bogarting the blacklight). Due to the linearity of the puzzle progression, there were moments where I was bored just waiting for Josh to finish some part before we could move on.

Atmosphere

The environment worked for the setting but felt very sparse. I never felt like I was inhabiting a mystical Kingdom of Cats. There were a few very nice set pieces but they never came together in a satisfying whole.

Customer service

Our host Allison was absolutely fantastic, and the lobby offered plenty of room to relax while waiting for game time, offering free water and wifi.

Story

The core theme was novel and good fun. There were narrative touches to the spaces and puzzles that fit the theme more or less consistently. However it could have been pushed much further. Having such a unique theme without really exploring the rich possibilities it affords seems like a wasted opportunity.

Difficulty

Easy

MOSTLY easy although the difficulty didn't feel consistent throughout. The very last puzzle was pretty hard (it was considered a "bonus" puzzle we were told).

Ideal number of players

More than two and I think you'll trip all over each other. 3 beginners might be ok.

Kids could do some of the puzzles and the theme is very family friendly. Younger kids I think might get bored.

I tripped over a doorjamb a couple times (yes the same one twice). There were was a sound puzzle that would be very difficult for folks with auditory processing issues and rough on the hard of hearing.

  • It was more of a standard escape room…large, beautiful sets and distinctive narrative flavor...
