Laura was a great game master. Was about to solve a puzzle without a key earlier piece (that wasn't required to find first) she came in before anyone could get frustrated.
Thanks for playing The Raven! We're glad you had a great time, and it's awesome to hear that Laura helped keep the game flowing smoothly. We appreciate your review and hope to see you for another adventure soon!

Unlocked History does a great job at having “not too obvious” clues. I like the focus on problem-solving and high-quality clues over high quantity, easy clues. My group did not realize we completed the puzzle and thought the “finale” was another clue. Overall, we had a good time and plan to return for other rooms! Group size: 3
Interesting story line with varying degrees of historical accuracy
Easy
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, puzzlequeen! We're glad you enjoyed the problem-solving focus in The Raven and appreciated the balance of challenge in the clues. It's always a fine-line trying to determine the right amount of easy puzzles and more challenging puzzled, but we're glad you liked the puzzles we had in the Raven. We can't wait to have you back again.

We loved this room! The nonlinear puzzles put a fun and Interesting twist on the room. We throughly had fun completing this one! There was a very “different” puzzles that made it more unique and help you think outside of the box- especially if you do a lot of escape rooms- it didn’t have that repetitive feel. There was a lot of puzzles but didn’t feel overwhelming.
We're glad to hear you loved The Raven! We put a lot of thought into making sure the puzzles feel fresh and engaging, especially for escape room enthusiasts. We tried to make this escape room more non-linear relative to some of our other escape rooms. We hope to see you back for another adventure!

Overall, this is a great escape room. The nonlinear puzzles are all enjoyable and the room employs many classic Poe references within the gameplay. Our game master was courteous and fun to interact with. The ending of room’s story is a bit confusing *No spoilers* in regards to the actual life of Edgar Allan Poe. The resemblance to Poe’s actual dorm room at the University of Virginia is also an enjoyable detail for those who’ve seen the actual dormitory. Without spoiling any puzzles; there is a large object that needs to be moved than the typical “two finger strength” rule that applies to most escape rooms. We enjoyed the room very much and encourage both fans of Poe and escape room aficionados to partake.
It was a non linear puzzle with overall good game play. Lot of fun for the two of us and quite the challenge.
Fun references to the works of Poe with some really fun dynamics.

Lots of puzzles are happening at the same time. Some small detail puzzles, technology puzzles, locks and word puzzles

Thank you so much for the feedback. We incorporated 5 of Poe's stories into the puzzles of this escape room: The Raven, The Cask of Amontillado, The Black Cat, Annabelle Lee, and The Oval Portrait. In addition we sought to use Poe's actual history at UVA into the story as well. And while the ending might not be historically accurate, we felt it was a suitable ending that coincided with Poe's Raven poem.

Loved it! Staff was kind and accommodating. The room was fun and the puzzles managed to be challenging without feeling like a “gotcha”. A small technical issue got us a little off track, but overall the room was a lot of fun!
Super fun and intuitive! Puzzles were challenging but rewarding. Solutions made sense and our group of four was kept busy — no one was ever stuck waiting around.
Exactly what you’d imagine a gothic horror room to be.
Our GM was amazing! Very attentive and compassionate. She was able to come in to give hints without coming off as patronizing (which has turned me off of rooms that do in-person hints in the past).

Staff says this is their hardest room! I was the only one in my group who had done an escape room before, and that definitely threw a wrench in things. I have a feeling a group with more collective experience would have an easier time.

The locks were suitably old, and we managed to get a key to open a lock it wasn’t meant to. The GM said they’d look into it :)

There is a bed in the room that you’re welcome you sit on if you need. My grandmother’s wheelchair fit in the room just fine without being in the way.

Thanks for the feedback. We hate it when technology disrupts the immersion, but we are delighted that you all had a great time in the Raven.

My favorite game at Unlocked History! I was pleasantly surprised with the level of immersion and amount of tech used. Although, the game master has to enter the room to provide hints and steps in unprompted on occasion.

Thanks for the feedback. We're delighted you had a great time in the Raven. We strive to ensure each group is able to see and explore the entire escape room, but during your next visit, let us know you don't want any unsolicited hints and we'll be sure to respect that.

This room was fun and challenging. It had a variety of very interesting puzzles. It was a little hard to tell the order things needed to be completed in. The GM was superb!
Thank you Jenna. The Raven is probably our most non-linear room. So there's definitely not a specific order that most of the puzzles need to be solved in. But that also means there's lots of mini-puzzles for a large group to work on simultaneously.
