Abstraction

Escape rooms often mimic movies, either directly or somewhat thematically. I’ve played through games straight out of blockbuster horror films, or classic adventure film, but I’ve rarely played games that mimicked the newest trend of artistic horror so effectively. Abstraction is a horror story, but it’s also a vehicle for a beautiful and almost tragic thematic experience. It made me think, it made me feel, all while being horrifying at the same time. The initial set is already a kind of haunting environment, but as the experience evolves, the arc of the story takes this game to varied yet beautiful places. I will never forget how one puzzle in particular worked with the set, or the eerie sound design that imperceptibly told the story, or a particular scene that was something I’ve wanted to see for a very long time. This is also one of the most fluid games I’ve played, with next to zero snags and a rare tangibility to the ways we manipulated the space. Escape rooms have always been something of an art form, but very few reach this level of the actual feeling of an art house film. Abstraction is a rare gem and a beautiful experience.

A room with a “wow” ambience and “wow” execution, that we adored. There are creepy moments, and it definitely sticks with that vibe throughout, but it wasn’t anything one of our members (who is a bit of a scaredy cat) couldn’t handle. We liked how they handled the cluing system if you were in a particular room or stuck on a particular puzzle too long, especially since it fit into the vibe of the room. However, opinions may vary about its unsolicited nature.

An amazing combination of great puzzles and interactive immersion; one of the best twists in a game i’ve ever seen. The game is fun and engaging, and managed to hit you at a philosophical level

By far the most impactful and best story driven game I've played. Puzzles were great, room decor was incredible, host was enthusiastic and friendly. Amazing facility, abstraction is currently my favourite room.

A creepy beginning that just gets creepier as the experience continues. One of my favorite game mechanics I have seen in a game and scratches a personal scare button. Delightfully paced to reveal a journey to save yourselves!

Ambiance à couper le souffle !!!! Décors incroyable !!! Nos maîtres du jeu étaient super !!! Pour les amateurs de sensation forte, cette salle est un most.

J'ai indiqué avoir «adoré» l'expérience par respect envers la salle... Parce que oui, c'était une expérience exceptionnelle, mais n'aimant pas l'horreur, ça a pour nous été le pire escape game de notre vie haha! Commençons par le positif: - L'immersion est digne des plus grands organisateurs d'escape game - Les décors sont HALLUCINANT - Les games master géniaux - Les énigmes sont super bien pensées Ce que nous avons moins aimé: On a eu tellement de stress du à l'ambiance oppressante qu'on est sorti par la porte d'urgence, on ne se sentait vraiment plus bien.... Disons que si vous n'aimez pas l'horreur, cette salle n'est pas pour vous! Bien qu'il n'y ait rien de graphique dans la salle, ne doutez absolument pas du pouvoir de l'appréhension haha! Sans faire de spoil, nous avons fait le saut une fois en début de partie et ça a été fini pour nous à partir de ce moment, l'ambiance était tellement lourde que nous n'arrivions plus à réfléchir adéquatement pour continuer. Nous avons tout de même fait les 3/4 du scénario, donc nous avons eu la chance de vivre l'expérience presque en entier. Il faut dire qu'on est 2 poules mouillées, alors ne vous arrêtez pas à ce commentaire, allez vivre cette expérience unique, elle en vaut vraiment la peine!!!!!

Great room! After reading some reviews I was worried it would be extremely scary, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought (I’m not a fan of scary rooms). Definitely a great room, I had a ton of fun! Worth the hype !
