46 escape rooms
At Anigma, all rooms are played in a sequence as one long story. This is the first room in the tale of the Maxim family, who lost everything when they fled a rebellion in their home country. Ewa Ivanovna, the heir to the Maxim family, has set out to gather the family heirlooms and needs help. Through your efforts to assist Ewa, you witness her tragic story and take part in avenging her family. Ewa's mother was institutionalized in a mental hospital, and when she passed away, the staff stole her jewels and kept them. But tonight, they are at the opera, providing the perfect opportunity to reclaim them. Unfortunately, they have locked the door to their apartment, so while most rooms are about getting out, here you need to break in. After a lengthy introduction video with fine animations and mood-setting background music, we are ready to take on the first task. We are led to the apartment door, and then the clock starts ticking. Once we have broken in, the room gives a convincing illusion of being in the apartment of an older couple, complete with a kitchen, piano, and puzzles etc.. The room is well-designed with a focus on believable props and decorations. The mother's jewels are cleverly hidden behind a system of puzzles. There is good variation in the puzzles, and the room is nonlinear, providing plenty to engage with. It's especially enjoyable when different senses and logic come into play to solve the puzzles. We rated it a 3 for difficulty, which may not be reflected in the fact that we escaped in less than half the time. However, we found a good level of challenge in the puzzles, and fortunately for us, it was a successful day. Some of the puzzles might be time-consuming if you can't grasp the approach and remember that the room is nonlinear.
