Mark as done to rate

Your trip to the Smokey Mountains turns dark as you wake up nauseous with one of your wrists strapped to a pipe in the wall. You have been abducted to participate in a research program to see if you can pass a series of challenges in less than an hour to obtain the antidote to cure yourselves. Do you have what it takes to fight for your freedom, or will you end up dead like the previous failed test subjects?

Rating 3.5/5 - Weird narrative but impressive Rube Goldberg machine/puzzle Pros: - The Rube Goldberg machine was built into the set and was very big and with some interesting interactions -Multiple floors (with spiral staircase) and rooms to explore -Lots of tech with some mechanical puzzles and a few padlocks -Friendly and helpful GM -Set looked good Mixed feelings: -The narrative was a bit weird and convoluted Cons: --No writing pad provided, you have to use your phone and many puzzles are easier if you take notes EDIT: In response to the owner's comment about vandalism, they can easily just provide inexpensive electronic Boogie Boards which many other escape room companies are doing now. I played this solo but I wish I had some help, I'd recommend 2-4 players. March 2025 Update: My ranking of the rooms here I've played starting with my favorite: 1. Ghost Town - Rating: 4.5/5 2. Murder Mansion - Rating: 4/5 3. The Pirate Ship - Rating: 4/5 4. Prison Break - Rating: 3.5/5 5. Time Machine - Rating: 3.5/5 6. The Scary One - Rating: 3.5/5 7. Abduction - Rating: 3.5/5 8. Shock & Awe - Rating: 3/5

Hello! Similar to your Shock & Awe review, our only comment is this: -Due to groups commonly using our provided markers and pens to vandalize the games (drawing and writing out codes or personal notes on in-game props and sheets) we do not provide writing pads or pens / markers anymore. So we just tell groups they can use the notes in their phones if needed in the spiel. Thanks for coming out to play and for the thumbs up!

One of the first escape rooms we did. A lot of physics used in this room.

This room had one of the most elaborate machines I’ve seen! Much of the room centers on this huge Rube Goldberg mousetrap-like contraption. It sounds complicated, but the flow was very linear and made sense to us. It helps that a computer guided our interactions throughout the large multi-story room. Was just super fun to experience and play! Haven’t even seen Saw or whatever this is sorta based on. It’s not very creepy in case you are scared, but the room does start with an interesting surprise. We came, we SAW, we conquered!

This room was alright. Puzzles were a bit hit or miss for me. They were either really cool or really bad imo. Overall good theme and set, and some fun mechanics.

This was super fun! Very active for small groups. Unique contraption and funny puzzles!

Gameplay

Very fun! Lots of back and forth between parts of the room but it’s obviously intentional.

Atmosphere

I loved the machine set up of this room! It was unique and fun to put together.

Customer service

I’ve never done an escape room by myself before and my game master was very helpful and encouraging in this game!

Particularly interesting or different

No

To be honest, I have seen attempts at the same concept of this room. HOWEVER, I have never seen a machine concept executed as well as it is in this room.

Story

The story was pretty baseline. It was not off putting, it just wasn’t unique.

Difficulty

Hard

I think I would rate this medium for groups. I did this room by myself and at times it felt near impossible. I still enjoyed it but I’ve never run up and down stairs so many times in an hour.

Game tech

High tech

Ideal number of players

3

This room is relatively large so it could be nice for big groups! Personally, I prefer to work with small groups so I would prefer 3-5 people.

Scary

Spooky

The storyline seems like it would be spookier than the execution is. The room itself is not very spooky at all once you get used to it.

Minimum age

10

Could be a little spooky but not terribly scary. Ages 10+ could definitely do this with adults in the party as well.

Was anything broken?

Yes

There was one part of the machine that kept malfunctioning. It’s possible that it just doesn’t work with one player, you might need at least two.

Live actors

No

Physically active

Very

This wouldn’t be nearly as physically active if players divided between floors. The action goes back and forth and if you have designated areas, it would be less intense.

Accessibility

Although there are stairs in this experience, it is not imperative that every player goes upstairs. It would be doable for those with impairment issues if they have teammates who are willing to communicate.

Easy to find location

Yes

Countdown Games is a very large building that stands out.

Parking

Medium

There is a lot of parking but it’s a relatively popular location.

This one ended up in my bottom five in over 100 rooms. Biggest complaint is a puzzle requiring entirely too much skill. Second biggest complaint is solving the exact same puzzle twice. A large contraption on the wall looked really cool but I have no idea what purpose it served throughout the room. Too much going up and down the stairs between each puzzle. Don’t recommend

Very good room with enough puzzles to keep players engaged. The attention to detail in their rooms are unmatched. The puzzles made sense with the theme of the room. Definitely give this room a try!
