Revenge Of The Cabin

Revenge of the Cabin was our 2nd game played on our 1st visit at CU Adventures and it was also a great experience. Feel free to see my Wizards Curse review for more comments on CUA as a company overall. Cabin was a tough room for only 2 players as there was a lot to do and remember. The darkness in several of the areas added to the room immersion, but also added to the difficulty (and made puzzles take longer). 2 players are doable, but I recommend having 3-5 players. The room had a lot of areas to explore both outside and inside the cabin, with movable walls, secret passages, and multiple elevations. A good variety of puzzles, with more locks/keys in this room, but still a good use of technology. I liked that the puzzles required some physical interactions, step-by-step approaches, and teamwork at times. All fun and fair, and CUA even personalizes the game with one of the puzzles. CUA uses a different hint system and in this game is a creepy Baby Doll that interacts with you. It is a cool idea, but if the doll was in 1 room and we were in another, we could not hear what the doll was saying. Even if the doll was in our room but on the other side, it was difficult to hear the doll. On several occasions, we had to ask the doll to repeat herself and this became very frustrating (and used precious time). You definitely need to have 1 person be responsible for keeping the doll close at all times. GM (Sara) gave us several helpful nudges and even a few extra minutes to make sure we were able to experience the entire room and have a successful experience (which we greatly appreciated). Sara could have been a little more proactive with giving us some nudges (as we spun our wheels early on), but RotC was still an enjoyable room and had a lot of fun.

Great room! Spooky, but not scary to our group.

Great spooky room. I was told this is their most popular room overall which makes sense as a lot of first timers are attracted to the horror/haunted house aspect in general and I’m sure it’s wildly popular around halloween. The set was immersive and felt real. The only thing that dampened the experience for me was an overeager game master who would give us hints if the game was not flowing for a few seconds. Maybe we should have mentioned that we didn’t want hints unless we asked for one. Even with that, the room itself is great, it just wasn’t that satisfying for our group due to the game master. It does feel good to get stuck on something and then figure it out on your own within a reasonable time frame. My personal #5 game out of 7 at CU Adventures (without taking game master into account).

This is a fun game with a pretty set and a cool hint system. The puzzles were solid, but it is obvious that they are of an older style. All of them were still logical and on-theme, but expect more locks and less tech than in other rooms at this location. This game also requires some decent levels of searching, but all of it felt fair. The room was dark for the sake of atmosphere, but it felt a little too dark at most points. The puzzles weren’t too challenging and our group of 2 was able to escape with a few minutes left on the clock. This one has some personalized touches that really sell the creepy atmosphere, but it’s never scary. This one doesn’t have as rich of a story as some of the other rooms at this location, but it still works well.

Did this with my gf and it was a bit hard with just the two of u. We did escape though!

This felt like an older game in terms of puzzles, but it still holds up. I'm generally not a fan of horror and disliked the dim lighting, but I imagine this varies. As with all games at CU Adventures, the set was great and puzzles were reasonable. I liked the hint mechanism, which was an unexpected but effective take that allowed for some more memorable interactions.

We did a full day at this location, playing 5 rooms back to back! All in all a fantastic day with loads of fun! This was a nice room, with a very cool hint system! We enjoyed it :D

Cool set dynamics, a fun theme and some cool Easter eggs make this a standout game among other 'cabin in the woods' games. Not my favorite room here at CU but worth doing if you’re in the area. 🤗
