We were told this was easier than Blackbeard's Brig, so we might have let our guard down, because we barely finished. This was another fun room at Escape The Room PCB. This room is less linear and requires tracking of a significant amount of information. There was one puzzle that had us stumped for 15ish minutes that we were able to back the information out of. The explanation at the end by the game master showed we overcomplicated it. There is a lot to do in this room but puzzles are pretty straightforward.
The game does flow well. The puzzles are challenging but solvable. The puzzles all support the theme and are straightforward but do require a good amount of brainpower.
A LOT of locks and puzzles to solve. The tools are available to keep the final solution tracked, but this room requires someone to maintain a 60,000 foot view unlike other rooms where players can solve puzzles to get to the next puzzle then forget everything previous. The special effects weren't overly special but did support the game well.
Excellent game master. He provided us timely clues when asked then helped us in the final stretch with the remaining puzzles with time ticking down.
Particularly interesting or different
No
Interesting, yes; different, not really. But still fun.
The story was well integrated as each clue leads players toward the final solution(s) to escape. Everything was about determining the final answer.
We found this game more challenging than most despite the game master explaining it was supposed to be easier than Blackbeard's Brig. It might have to do with the fact that with a small group (3) we didn't really have a coordinator who could keep track of every puzzle previously solved and help us hone in on the overall solution. A couple of clues were real head scratchers which slowed us down with A LOT of locks and puzzles. Still fun.
Although there is one section of live interaction.
