Moscow — December 5th, 1962. Tensions are high in moscow as the cold war continues to heat up. Rumors of a missile strike have brought you and your fellow spies to an international chess tournament. Although you start off on the same mission, allegiances are not set in stone. Achieving success in checkmate requires independent and group success and shifting allegiances make that success even harder to grasp. Are you a pawn in a game between two superpowers or are you a hero closing in on the ultimate checkmate?

Our Checkmate experience was fantastic! The GM was kind and did a great job of explaining the premise without giving too much away. After doing almost 100 rooms, this one really had something unique and special: elements where individual people were pulled to another space to work on things alone. It spiced things up just enough but also didn’t diminish anything from the overall feel. It worked really well with the storyline.

This room was really intriguing, it added a twist I've never seen before in an escape room: Individual players were summoned throughout the course of the game to perform specific tasks without the aid of the others. I won't give anything away, but it added a totally unique layer of intrigue.
