This was a funny experience. We thought the game master was playing a character, but it turns out that was just his character. The room was tight for 5 adults, but the puzzles were cute. We got through the room pretty quickly with no hints.

This game is 3 parts - with part 1 being the main objective with 2&3 as add ons, as time permits. With a team of 2, we escaped part 1 (the murderer) in 32:11. We were able to do parts 2&3 (the why & the how) in another 10 minutes and 17.5 minutes, respectively. It was SO much fun! Great theme, great puzzles, lots of fun surprises, and adds to the overall theme of the mansion. The best room in New Orleans!

So I first played this game in April 2018 and that time, did not get very far. Played with a random person who did not really seem to have that much interest. I always hoped for another crack at this game. Nice that my trip to New Orleans allowed me to get some closure on two different games. (See Spellbound) Anyway, in the last 7 years, the company has moved locations. From what I remember, the game pretty much felt exactly the same, which is saying something, considering it takes place in an eclectic mansion. The plot is a whodunit murder mystery, taking place in the 1950s and thereβs a nice sense of New Orleans and jazz music baked into the game. The puzzles were on the harder side, but overall it was a good experience. This game along with their Mardi Gras game are part of an over arching storyline. If I had one critique, there are some extra puzzles that are thrown in after the game ends if you get through with lots of time to spare, specifically ones that let you find the killers motive and murder weapon. We only had 6 minutes left on the first game, but we breezed through the Mardi Gras game, so they let us come back to the first one to do those puzzles. That felt a little disjointed. There were also some references to another storyline, which I did not understand, but when I asked about it, was happy to find out that one of their other games from their original location, Inventor's Attic, will be making its way to the new location sometime in 2025 which will pick up on those storyline pieces. This is a fun place and I recommend doing this game and Mardi Gras. We did avoid the Smugglers den, which is their most highly rated game, but it seems the ratings are based off of the novelty of doing a game mostly in the dark.

We accidentally skipped several steps of the puzzle by fiddling with somethings, so that was a little disappointing. But overall the puzzles were engaging, immersive, and not too contrived.

This game was full of twists and turns that made my party of 3 busy from the moment we got started to the end! Crookshanks the gm was phenomenal and the theatrics/immersion was fantastic. Iβm a super big fan of escape rooms that donβt require a lot of locks. If youβre in New Orleans and you want something to remember, this is the place you got to go!
Story was very important to the room, and flowed very well. Not your average murder mystery!
Even though there was a puzzle broken, they seem to have prepared things. The set was really well done.
Absolutely made this room much more entertaining than it already was. Shout out to Crookshank and their meatloaf

This game is not closed! Not sure why it is listed as such here. We had a great time! GM was very accommodating, both in hinting when needed, and as a generous host.

Mardi Gras Study: A murder in the DeLaporte mansion begs to be solved. We had to join forces with the police to close the case. Jazz Parlor: A reclusive matriarch has a hidden treasure that our group was tasked to find. Pros: The sets at Escape My Room are FANTASTIC. We loved the immersive feel and experience created by the set design. Definitely worth a visit just to appreciate the work put into the rooms. The storylines were also enjoyable and elements in the set add to the overarching narrative. Cons: Our main complaints center around our experience with the game master and puzzle design. Some of the puzzles were overly complicated leading to logical fallacies. Numerous red herrings also burned up large portions of our time. These issues could have easily been remedied with more specific guidance from our game master. However, our moderator did not seem to fully understand the game flow or the puzzle solutions. He struggled to assist us and sometimes delayed our progress. Lock failures added to our frustrations. At one point our game was completely stalled by faulty materials and the game master was unable to deal with the problem. We ultimately left angry and annoyed but the owners responded promptly to our concerns. Overall we recommend you visit Escape My Room if for no other reason than to appreciate the awesome work they have put into set design. The rooms are too good to be missed. We hope that the issues with locks and the training of game moderators have been remedied by the time you visit. We have no doubt you will enjoy your experience at Escape My Room!β

The atmosphere in this venue is very cool, and the GM was doing her best. But this game should be taken offline until the final puzzle is fixed. The workaround is frankly absurd, and makes the room too easy.

A small space so more than 3 would be very crowded. If the final puzzle was working it would be easiest with 3.

We got lucky with street parking right out front. Thereβs a lot next door but itβs very expensive.

Pros - Setting between the rooms at this place are all integrated together, which is sick - Lots of jazz history present in the decorations - Room is well decorated - Puzzles are cute and satisfying to solve, enough that I am still thinking about them - Extra puzzles at the end that were cool! - Cool places to take a picture after! Cons - The room has an interesting premise at the start, but too much reading for too little payoff (a little too straightforward) - I think one of the puzzles required outside knowledge 8/10 (solid room, recommendable but not a must play) If it just had slightly a more interesting ending, would easily be an 8.5 or 9

βNewer players will likely find Jazz Parlor challenging, but not impenetrable. Be patient. β
