This game had SO much hype!!! The set design was very good, and grandiose, but the game play was lacking and had several elements that just didnβt hold up to the game. (Iβve played close to 600 games) We enjoyed the space, but the overall experience (between game play and customer service) was not incredible (which we were expecting). 1 prop was more frustrating than anything, and the storyline got lost throughout the game. The whole experience here was slightly disappointing.

Staff took up all of the designated spots, so you would have to pay for parking, but that wasnt well advertised so we got a ticket.

wow this room was absolutely STUNNING. the set was spectacular, with each room i found myself in absolute ah staring at the craftsmanship of it all. the themeing was impeccable, truly felt like i was in an indiana jones movie now, the puzzles, i will say my group really struggled to understand the flow of this room. a puzzle you would think is very intuitive had a turn that didnβt make much sense. i found myself really reaching to make sense of some things. the game masters werenβt super helpful either, they gave vague statements or just asked if we wanted the answer. (i said we encourage nudges and help and want to get out) the puzzles themselves were very cool like that first room was insane i was absolutely baffled by the tech in there! just wish we had a little more time to complete it. Overall, this room was beautiful, i completely understand their rating on terpeca and agree this room is a must see! just wish there was a little more direction for things
puzzles did not have a good flow and i felt a lack of direction at times
absolutely INSANE SET WOW
game masters werenβt very attentive, instead of nudges just kinda offered the answer or a vague statement

The buildout of this room actually may surpass the hype of it all. Truly a stunning achievement. The puzzles however were not my exact cup of tea.

Simply incredible. Enjoyable puzzles, great build up, super fun theme, and an outstanding set. I went into it blind and it was very worth it. The crowning jewel of 13th gate π

This game was very challenging, but again the set design at this place is certainly something to see! We had a great time in this room. There were some tech-ish issues, but the puzzles were fun and the space was beautiful.

Cutthroat Cavern was the 4th game we did at 13th Gate. This was the one I had been waiting for. I've done so many pirate rooms, yet this room was what people talked about. The company is known for their amazing set design and after doing Tomb of Anubis, could anything top that? In short, YES. Cutthroat Cavern is THE most impressive massive set I've ever played in a game. Most pirate games take place in a room on a ship. The best ones (ahem, Captain Spoopy Bones) take place across an entire ship. Then there's this game. Sure there was a ship, but there's also a jungle temple and a whole cove. IT'S HUGE. Also, lots of real sand. We dumped it out of our shoes on the way home. The puzzles were definitely not easy but they were somewhat intuitive. 13th Gate uses an "automated" clue system that they bake into most of their rooms. Someone, like a cat in Spellbound or another victim in The Collector, gives you a pre-recorded clue when you need help. In this game, of course, it's a parrot. The effect works surprisingly well and the gamemaster stays on top of things to jump in if the automated response isn't helpful. The only issue in this game was that you could only hear the parrot in certain rooms. We encountered the same issue in Asylum. There was a nice flow as well. I will say that out of all their games, Cavern had a amazing plot twist storyline which I really found heartwarming. Didn't see that coming. And honestly, this didn't come across as your typical pirate game. This was more of an homage to Indiana Jones as well as the Goonies then Pirates of the Caribbean. This game had one big issue that ALL of 13th Gate's games have. These are 60 minute rooms that really need to be 75 minute rooms. There's a LOT of puzzling to be done. We were a group of 4 and we ran over and they let us keep going. Come to 13th Gate for pretty much any & all of the games here. Put Cutthroat as a must-do experience (along with Anubis and Flight 13). This company is worth the 90 minute drive from New Orleans. If you are coming out, plan to spend the whole day there & do all of their games. .

This is an incredible game in terms of atmosphere and set. The puzzles and storyline were good enough, with some aspects weβve never seen before. Like everyone says, itβs an absolutely must do!
Puzzles were overall good, but there were a couple of tedious ones as well.
Atmosphere is everything itβs hyped up to be!
As always, the 13th Gate customer service is extremely subpar. I gave a thumbs up because they didnβt do anything inherently wrong and our GM was attentive, but you can tell theyβre just trying to get people in and out as fast as possible, and have no interest in geeking out over the escape rooms or experience. In fact, we were shuffled out of the room without even so much as being asked if we had any questions about the room or puzzles.

Incredible experience. Challenging puzzles, VERY high quality props. Even the clues were themed. Probably one of the highest production rooms in the country. This is pirates of the carribean level of stagecraft. Our family of 4 did NOT escape, but we came close and had a blast. We'd do it again just for the experience.
