46 escape rooms
The year is 1985, during the Cold War. As ESC agents, your team’s mission is to locate and retrieve a hard drive containing sensitive NATO documents and bring it back to headquarters. Unfortunately, it’s somewhere in the possession of a slightly psychotic janitor—and judging by his photo, he’s not someone you’d want to run into, especially not in his office. This is Escape Copenhagen’s first and oldest room, dating back to 2015, and it shows signs of being linear and lock-heavy. On the bright side, the room isn’t worn down and is quite well-designed visually. Despite the linear progression of tasks, the space is used cleverly, giving everyone a chance to move around. You might get caught off guard by the fact that the usual escape room rule—each item is used only once—doesn’t apply here, but it works surprisingly well. They describe the game as “a consistently thrilling atmosphere with solid puzzles,” and we agree completely. Escape Copenhagen has two identical rooms, allowing for an escape duel where two teams play simultaneously. Four participants will have no trouble staying engaged, but if you’re more than that, we recommend splitting into two groups.
