Closing October 31 - We began clearing an existing footpath, for ease of entry into what would be our Halloween Big Tent Maze, only to discover a progressive series of setbacks and obstacles to what should have been an easy project. The problems intensified the night we began testing the path lighting. It was made clear to us we were not wanted in those woods, especially at night. We did finish the path during daylight, but discussions with a few local elders, and a trip to the capitol library led us to the probability that we are dealing with an ancient trinity of cryptids. We are still piecing it together, but based on what we understand, we can loosely define this trinity as a forest demon, a shadow fiend, and a swamp sorceress. The very recent additional cryptids seem to be the spawn of the original three, which parallels multiple Choctaw legends. We were hoping that as increasing numbers of people used this trail the ‘problems’ would go away, but the opposite is happening. They’ve become enraged, and thus the spawn. But we have no choice but to embrace the situation. What one of the old locals referred to as “that lusus naturae trail where all ’em thangs skulk about,” is now officially The Lusus Naturae SKULK Trail.
