Closing October 31 - The headliner for what was to be a family-friendly fall festival, Mr. Creepies and his traveling show turned out to be more of a psych ward on wheels. When only recently, in September, I finally tracked down Mr. Cooger Creepies and his entourage, I was reminded of the phrase, “Beware of the autumn people”; it seems there is simply no evidence of the troupe’s existence anywhere, or at any time, other than months ending in the letter ‘r’. Anyway as my contract with Mr. Creepies had been executed prior to our meeting, along with full payment demanded and foolishly paid, I realized we would not be having a fun Fall carnival. Soon after that initial meeting, I began to refer to this troupe as Cooger and his Creepies. Evenso, I had a much higher opinion of them then than I do now. And so, we have again, decided to embrace what we have. Luckily, the Halloween season is when you can turn wine into sour grapes and most people expect it. So here, I will spin this into as positive a review as I can: This dark, weird, disconcerting carnival brings pandemonium and nightmare to all who percieve the siren’s song of its carnival music, or witness the dim, hypnotic perplexity of its seductive labyrinth.
