46 escape rooms
We’re back in the year 1945, as the title reveals. After the war ended, German soldiers and prisoners of war were tasked with clearing all the mines from the beaches, while living under grim conditions. In this escape room, you play one of these prisoners, seizing the chance to escape rather than risk being blown up during mine clearing. However, the escape isn't without danger, as it involves navigating through those very same mines. The gamemaster begins the experience with an introduction that incorporates historical facts, painting a rather bleak picture of the post-war era. The room features a good mix of simple locks, used effectively, alongside mechanical locks that fit well with the setting. The puzzles are well constructed and require thoughtful problem-solving to crack. Few teams make it through without any hints. The room was created in 2019, and by the time of our visit in May 2024, only seven teams had completed it within the time limit without receiving hints—including ours. As with their other rooms, every team is allowed to finish to ensure a sense of achievement. In terms of size, the room suits a group of 3–4 players, which was also the size of our team. Everyone was engaged and entertained throughout. We completed the room in approximately 43 minutes, earning the third-best time—so it definitely leans toward the more challenging side.
