In the rural idyll of the village of Svartbäck, there is an old cottage, whose last inhabitant once mysteriously disappeared. The cabin was rented by a businessman named Risto, who said he was very stressed. That's why he wanted to get to the peace of the countryside for a while, away from the hustle and bustle of Helsinki. He hoped to be able to relax on land. However, Risto was not alone. Ready to speak and a good companion, he was a favorite conversational partner among the villagers. Risto's heart was reserved for Doris, who lives in Helsinki. Doris was an entrepreneur, successful and busy, and she wouldn't even have had time for socializing. But the polite and romantic Risto had conquered Doris for himself. The courtship seemed to be serious enough that Risto had already talked about getting engaged..... But pretty soon after moving to the country, Risto stopped keeping in touch and even Doris couldn't get hold of him anymore. Doris did try, sent letters and tried to call. Doris was naturally very worried about the situation. In the end, Doris decided to have her employees visit Risto's rented cabin. The cabin turned out to be empty and there was no sign of Risto. Risto's things were in their places, as if he had gone to visit the neighbor. It didn't help Doris to do anything but wait. Time passed....
