Bloodline 1842

Lots of awesome set pieces devoid of actors or story.

Although not an original theme, this is perfectly appropriate for the season. I actually really enjoyed this one this year. Had some good moments.

Prepare to be spooked. The Knott’s actors are waiting around every turn and know how to pop out at just the right moment to make you jump. The set design is highly detailed and designed for terror at Knott’s Scary Farm. A few cons: the mazes are all very loud with sound effects and music that do little to add to the ambience of fear but do make you want to get out quicker. There is high amount of gore in most of the mazes. We generally prefer haunts that rely on spine-chilling creepiness rather than ritual slaughter. But to each their own. Bloodline 1842 tells the story of a vampire war. We weren’t exactly sure what was happening at times but we definitely didn’t stick around to find out.

Great room. Very large, and the set was good.

In its 2nd year, while the maze itself is lengthy with plenty to see, the lack of guns deeply dampens the experience. I appreciate the variety of scares offered: scare actors can be found climbing walls, hanging from ceilings, and bouncing out from the shadows. Set pieces can vary in detail, and the climax offers a nice surprise. However, the missing preshow fully takes away any context to the story, leaving newcomers wondering what is going on. With the interactive element of shooting down the vampires missing, there are less actors than in previous years, leaving parts of the maze feeling empty and drawn out. Disappointing that for its 50th year, Knott's would take away elements that set it apart from other haunts.

Let me say this first, I miss the guns, it brought so much energy to this maze. It's still a beautifully built maze with a fun talent. The music is fantastic, the costumes spot on, great size and walk through flow.

2023 is Bloodlines second year at Knotts Scary Farm and featured a unique experience that was sadly removed this year. When it debuted, Guest were vampire hunters and were given weapons of their choice. It was a fun experience but I heard Scareactors were actually getting hurt so they were removed this year. Since I’ve experienced that, this years Bloodline kinda fell short. There used to be moments where actors would perform a monologue before entering other parts of the maze, but now they’re just standing there and trying. Don’t let that discourage you from checking it out, we still had fun.

Debating whether bloodline is still as cool as it was when you received interactive weapons… but it is. This year no weapons but they made it longer and added a few really cool extra scenes in this mad maxian vampire hunter type adventure. Take it slow and enjoy the scenery.
