Closing November 1 - Each year, for the month of October the Irvin transforms itself into a haunted ship, where the ghosts come alive. Your worst nightmares will come to life and it will seem like they will never end. During the self-guided tour, you’ll see how the once historic ore ship has been flipped inside out to reveal its true identity. The haunting of the Irvin is not just a rumor, mysterious sightings have been recorded. Don’t be too sure the flickering lights and slamming doors are part of the act, our ghosts may appear at any time. Walking through the dark, eerie hallways you’ll get the feeling that you’re never alone, because you won’t be. In this ship, no place is safe. Starting in the engine room you will travel through the ship until you land in your final destination that is below the freezing waters of Lake Superior in the maze of terror. If you thought the rest of the ship was terrifying, just wait until you step down into the maze. While down in the pitch dark “dungeon” of the ship, not knowing where you’re going is the least of your worries. Watch your back; you never know who’ll be hovering over your shoulder. If you think you’re brave enough to face your fears, come to the Haunted Ship. But remember only the tough ones make it through, alive.

This would be the first time in twenty-eight years since I've done the Haunted Ship. With any memory of it being vague and more than likely several changes it's gone through since, it's basically a fresh experience for me. The set design is very, very well done. There's lots of distinct sections/themes throughout the haunt that they did a great job of bringing to life. The length of it was pretty reasonable as well. My one large critique of the Haunted Ship is the scare actors. A lot of them weren't grtting into their roles very much. Some just stood there not doing anything. Ones that were interacting with patrons mostly just screamed at the top of their lungs. There were a select few actors that did take the cake, though. One in particular was a zombie with incredible make up and had the perfect walk to tie it all in.

Scary

Not scary

In my opinion, not scary. There were a lot of missed opportunities for the actors to have jumped out and scare people, but any of thebplaces that could perfectly hide a person were rarely utilized. Unless your scared by decor and screetching alone, it's not scary.

Atmosphere

Atmosphere was top tier!

VIP

n/a

I'm not sure. We just got fast pass tickets, which is worth it if you wanna go through quicker, but the extras for VIP weren't very clearly laid out on the website.

It's on a big ship!

Physically active

Somewhat

There's steps to climb down and up, tight corredors to meander, low doors to crawl through, and ramps to ascend.

Accessibility

Very much not accessible. Strobe lights are used, lots of steps, very dark inside, and a *tight* doorway to walk through that not everybody could comfortably do.
