154 escape rooms
I didn’t hate this room but I didn’t love it either. I think that this room would have been a lot more successful with more attention to detail. We received conflicting information about what was required in the room between what the intro video said and what the game master told us. I think that this was a result of making recent updates to the room without making any recent updates to the video. Additionally, it was easy to miss/bypass some parts of the room which made it less satisfying to solve the mystery at the end. I wish that we had been directed to the things that we were missing when we asked for hints but we weren’t. I feel like I missed part of the storyline. I think that this could be a good room with just a few small tweaks!
Gameplay
Some of the puzzles were fun but this game was non-linear in a confusing way. It wasn’t very clear which puzzles went with which clues and some of the elements of the game were even possible to skip which left us with some missing puzzles pieces at the end of the game. The biggest issue was that there were conflicting messages between the rules of the game and the gameplay.
Atmosphere
The room decor was simple but believably immersive. The introductory video is where the game lost a lot of its immersive appeal. The game intro needs MAJOR updates because there is a lot of outdated info about what is contained within the game. I assume that this game has been updated recently but honestly this room should be on pause until the intro video is updated. There was a lot of confusing and unnecessary material introduced right at the beginning of the game. Additionally, it really broke the illusion of being in the story when the intro video constantly switched back and forth between “I need your help finding out who killed me” and “The bathrooms are down the hall”. It would be more successful if the gamemaster told the group all of the general info about escape rooms (where bathrooms are, door is unlocked, etc.) and then the video just told the group all of the storyline info.

The GM was friendly.
Particularly interesting or different
No
I’ve seen similar themes and execution elsewhere.
Story
The murder mystery plot line has some appeal but due to pieces of the game that were easy to overlook, we were missing some pieces of the story. There was one lock that we never even opened (and were never directed to when we asked for hints) that contained integral parts of the story. I may have thought more positively of the story if I had all of the pieces but I didn’t and therefore the ending of the game felt quite unsatisfying.
Difficulty
Medium
The puzzles weren’t super challenging but the non-linear nature of the room made it more difficult to navigate.
