Die Legende vom herzlosen Piraten [The Tale of the Heartless Pirate]

The most immersive room I played up to that point. Everything fits perfectly: set design, props, special effects, story flow, mood and pacing, and even music. In addition the adventure requires thinking outside the box, especially compared to more classical escape rooms, as well as a good portion of (somewhat whacky) humor. The Staff was very nice and attentive. Our game master Ingo helped a good bit to make this experience as memorable as it was. I had an absolute blast.

Wir kamen aufgrund des fantastischen TERPECA-Rankings mit sehr hohen Erwartungen. Und die wurden erfüllt! Kaum betritt man das Gebäude, steckt man schon mitten drin in der Story. Ingo machte als GM einen fantastischen Job! Wir hatten die Zeit mit ihm sehr genossen. Es war sehr, sehr lustig - etwas, das ich besonders mag in Escape Rooms. Im weiteren Verlauf erwarteten uns tolle, abwechslungsreiche Rätsel. Sie waren einfach, aber nicht zu einfach. Genau richtig für einen tollen Flow zu zweit. Ein durch und durch grossartiger Raum, der von einem grossartigen Team betrieben wird. Selten fühlten wir uns so sehr willkommen an einem Standort.

After 30+ escape rooms this has been my favourite experience so far! It feels like entering the world of the video game „Monkey Island“ - the attention to detail was just amazing! Just like in Lucas Arts adventures you have to interact with both objects and characters and find your way through the adventure through trial and error, thinking outside the box and with a sense of humour.

My face hurt from laughing so much after this room!! Our GM Emma made the whole thing such an amazing experience! The attention to detail in the room was insane from the hilarious magazines (which I later translated after the room) to the cute details in the last room. The room unfolds in such a fun way with many “wow” moments and one of the best integrated puzzles in a storyline I’ve seen. This was such a fun room to play with our group. Dream labs has created some really special rooms and no doubt why it’s at the top of Trepeca.

Schon alleine der Empfang im Dream Lab Labor versetzte uns in eine andere Welt. Nach dem Check in, starteten wir unter Deck und stellten uns dem herzlosen Piraten. Gemeinsam mit dem Piraten Ingo, der uns verpflegte und ein bisschen Infos zu manchen Leuten gab, reisten wir los. Mit Schauspiel und etwas Rätselgeschick träumten wir uns durch 75 Minuten. Dieser Traum ging leider viel zu schnell vorbei. Und so kamen wir viel zu früh im Labor wieder zu uns.

We liked this room less than Metropolis, but we still enjoyed it. An important detail of this room is that it is based on a video game called Monkey Island and it has a “point-and-click” style play. You need to explore, try things, and interact with the characters in the room. This is something we wished we had known going in. Also, it is good to know this is a great room for beginners. A lot of the riddles to solve are implied by the role play, so don’t expect difficult riddle solving. I have seen some harsh reviews on this, but it is the style of the game. The rooms also have great detail, and there is a lot of humour throughout. It is a completely different style to their other room, so I think Dream Labs has something for everyone!

Wow, this was so much fun! :) Absolutely amazing experience for adults and kids alike. The setting, story and atmosphere of this room are just incredible. Played this with my brother with whom I used to play the Monkey Island games when we were kids and we found so many nice Easter eggs along the already cool and humorous plot. But also my daughter who is 12 and doesn’t know anything about Monkey Island found lots of things and twists she loved and still talks about hours later. Tasks to solve are all rather easy, this is more about just having a good time and going with the flow rather than having to solve logical puzzles. Time definitely well spent!!

I loved the concept of introduction to their games and when we were going through this introductory part I was really enjoying it and looking forward to playing the game. The huge contrast of mine and my partner's feelings when we were leaving the game in comparison with the feelings we had at the beginning of the game however left me no choice than to give my thumb down. I mean - the setting, the interiors, props and humor are great. However, when you finish the game with some 15-20 minutes left and you feel like the game did not allow you to think any of the puzzles and solutions through and always after just a few moments or after first unsuccessful try the game told you basically literally what to do, then there is no fun and satisfaction in it. First, I thought we just had bad luck with the roommaster we had (he was a bit shy and his English was not great, we were the last slot so he might have wanted to be home as early as possible) but after we discussed our feelings with him and we were told that we didn't receive almost any hints and everything was a part of the game - then I'm sorry to say that but it is really bad game design when there is no place and time to come up with the strategy of solving the interaction with the live actor and there is almost no time to think of the right solution of those few tasks that this game involves because the game will almost always after just few moments tell you what to do. I was leaving this game with a feeling that this is more of a guided theme park experience with really nice props and setting, a lot of easter eggs (though a lot of them unfortunately only in German and with not a lot of time to enjoy them) but almost no puzzle solving and almost no need of the players' involvement and input. After reading all the other comments here I still want to hope that we only had a really bad gamemaster but still, I can't see much puzzle solving nor interesting story in the game and I found too many of the props, setting and easter eggs in the game without any purpose or time to enjoy them. However, we really enjoyed the other game Metropolis which was great and really enjoyable!
