114 escape rooms
The entire game takes place in one small room that is poorly decorated. Props and puzzles all poorly constructed. Game master stands at a podium in the room the whole time and tells you to ignore them and the podium as they are “out of play.” Then when you solve a puzzle, they flick the lights off and on and hang the key you just earned on the podium. When you fail to find the key because you’re not looking on the podium that’s “out of play”, game master sighs heavily and says “Did you check the podium?” Closest I’ve come to throttling someone.
Gameplay
Atmosphere
There were no special effects and props looked they were made by students.
Customer service
Our game master was clearly bored and wanted to be somewhere else. After the game she begged us to take team photo so she could show her boss to prove that people had come in.
Particularly interesting or different
No
The game had a vague Houdini theme but most of the puzzles had nothing to do with the theme.
Story
No compelling story and most puzzles had nothing to do with the theme.
Difficulty
Hard
Hard because most of the props and puzzles didn’t work properly and everything was manually triggered and the game master was not really paying attention even though she was in the room with us.
