The famous Alcatraz has moved to Roskilde and you now have a unique opportunity to experience the well-known prison up close... FROM THE INSIDE! Rumor has it that some of the people who have visited Alcatraz have never returned home, so maybe it's not an ordinary sight-seeing in the prison... Are you curious and brave enough to try it yourself...? Escape Room Roskilde has bought the content from the former Alcatraz Escape Room in Copenhagen and rebuilt it into a really cool Escape Room with a completely new gameplay and a lot of cool puzzles. It's definitely not the same Escape Room anymore – the game is made multi-linear as always with us and we've added cool new electronic puzzles. Only a few of the previous tasks still exist, as we have removed a lot of worn objects and boring padlocks and replaced them with new electronic solutions, to bring the game completely up to date. In Alcatraz 2.0, you are "locked up" in two cells and from there you must first cooperate to get out of the cells. Out in the hallway you meet and now you have to get out of the prison together. It is a space where collaboration is the absolute most important thing, with tasks that simply cannot be solved alone. It's super fun and requires good collaboration and communication skills!

46 escape rooms

In the famous prison Alcatraz, only 3 people managed to escape during the many years it was open. Now, there is an opportunity to increase the number of successful prison breaks, as you are locked inside a cell in Alcatraz. This is an escape room in the classic sense, as you actually need to break out. The room was previously offered by Timequest in Copenhagen, but when they closed, Escape Room Roskilde took over the concept and created their version of it, updating many of the puzzles and making it their own. Communication is a crucial part, as you start by being locked in, in 2 different cells without the ability to see each other, so you need to be good at discussing what you find and what you need. It's an additional element that increases the difficulty but also adds a fun aspect. The room is nonlinear, and there are initially many things to engage with. The puzzles are a good mix of electronics, padlocks, and creative ideas, which we always appreciate. Design-wise, you find yourself locked in a prison cell, and you buy into the premise when the barred door closes and the padlock clicks into place. 49 escape rooms

This was quite a standard room, nothing particularly interesting, but still a fine game. There was a single riddle that did not really make a lot of sense to us, which led to one of our players sitting in front of that puzzle for a solid 20 minutes, while others solved other riddles. We would probably have liked a hint for that puzzle sooner, since our 5th player barely played the room, trying to solve that one riddle.

Gameplay

A single riddle really stumped us and still today wasn't very clear as to why that was the way to solve it.

Atmosphere

The Prison Cells were quite regular prison cells, but the area outside the cells seemed off. It did not feel like a prison outside of the cells.

Story

I've seen a lot of Prison Break rooms. This was not particularly more interesting than many of the others, but it was clear to see the story being unfolded during the game.

Difficulty

Medium

The game itself wasn't that difficult, but there was that one riddle that completely stumped us.

The theme is breaking out of prison. It gives more of an adventurous feeling.

Google Maps shows you directly to the location with ease, but the building is rather far from civilization, so it's a good idea to come by car.

Free parking just outside the building.
