Escape the Pound

I’m biased towards this escape room because we got to bring our dog along! It was such a fun and unique experience watching our dog explore the room, sniff around, and actually be part of the adventure. You do need to bring treats your dog is already familiar with, as your dog helps find treats/clues throughout the room. That being said, the puzzles were easy enough that you could still complete the room even if your dog wasn’t interested in playing detective. The puzzles themselves were quite simple, and I do wish the room was a little longer, but I understand why it’s shorter since not every dog will want to be in the room for an extended period of time. For a room that regularly has dogs inside, it was very well-maintained and clean. The room had more of a homemade feel, with mostly mechanical puzzles rather than high-tech elements, but it fit the theme well. You can get hints by answering dog-themed trivia questions, and most questions are fairly easy if you have a general understanding of dogs and dog-related media. Overall, it was a really fun experience, and getting to include our dog made it extra special!

Hard to rate as most of my enjoyment from the room came from watching and playing with our dog going around and finding things. The concept is super unique and if you’re looking for something to do for half an hour with your dog it’s fun! The staff were great as well. Evaluating it on a pure escape room level it’s pretty rough around the edges, both in the physical space and the puzzles. So objectively as a pure escape room it’s not great. We still had a good time though hence the thumbs up =).

Awesome host. Great concept. Room needed some work. Hard to have a great room that dogs are going through though. A unique experience.
