22 escape rooms

I have to agree with past negative reviews made about this room. There was a lot of illogical pieces and directions that made zero sense and in the end seemed to be fairly irrelevant. My partner and I have completed difficult rooms designed for four plus people by ourselves as two player so this one that was rated as “easy” should not have been that hard. Also, the business uses “orange tape” for non- game play items yet it seemed most of the room had orange tape. It was excessive and distracting. Yet, some irrelevant items wouldn’t have orange tape and it wasn’t to “throw us off”- it was just downright inconsistency. The lighting was also too low for no relevance. Flashlights would flicker out and were bulky making locks hard to unlock with one person. Not a fan.

191 escape rooms

Two rooms in one night. After 451 I think everyone in the group was a little concerned going into this one. Turns out we were right. The room starts off well enough - mostly key and combination puzzles, a couple decent ones. Eventually we get stuck though and just struggle for 10 minutes. We finally get a hint that moves us forward and it has a do something we've been trained to not do - pull a hidden wire inside a prop. Even with that hurdle, we get stuck again on a perspective puzzle that none of us can see even with the help of the employee afterwards (who then proceeded to tell us this major piece we had been working to wasn't even necessary). Honestly we were mostly just frustrated by the end of it. I'm gonna say pass on this one.

I LOVE escape rooms! But I get really frustrated when rooms equate “difficult” with “illogical.” Saying you’re the most difficult room in Utah (which the game master told me) is not a good thing if what you really mean is “we have color-based puzzles with ambiguous pastels in low light that are hard to distinguish, riddles that would take Dan Brown three chapters to explain, no sign-posting, and misleading clues. It’s a room that almost no one gets through, and those that do are doing it for the second time. But instead of being honest with ourselves about the game play and making adjustments, we will just tell people it’s difficult.” Difficult can still be fun as long as it makes sense. This room didn’t. I did one other room at Enigma years ago, decided I wouldn’t come back, but then reconsidered tonight. I gave them another shot and wish I hadn’t. This was my 180th room to date, and if I were to rank it, it would probably be about at 168th of 180.

It’s a fun room. Not as polished as others, but still enjoyable. It’s also not a creepy escape room which is refreshing; They’re also a little cheaper than other rooms, so that’s nice.

Gameplay

It was fun. Not as clean cut as others, but still fun to do

Atmosphere

Pretty minimal decor, but still enough to set a theme.

Customer service

Everyone was nice. We had a good time.

Particularly interesting or different

No

Not in a bad way. Just not a super rememberable room. It would be a good starter escape room.

Story

Story was good. Nothing crazy. A simple story is good though. Anything too intense and it gets overwhelming.

Difficulty

Medium

We didn’t escape, but I think with the right people you can easily get it solved.

Game tech

Mechanical

There was one high tech moment in the game that’s kind of fun, but other than that, pretty mechanical.
