It’s up to you to find the antidote—and save the world. As a team of scientists working in a secret government testing facility, you have been tasked to investigate the abandoned laboratory of Dr Walter Brandt. Dr Brandt was a highly ranked chemical weapons specialist, until his rogue behaviors and plans to conduct chemical warfare using man-made viruses led him to be a global threat. What was supposed to be a controlled mission has become disastrous and time sensitive after one of the investigators sends vials of the contagious virus crashing to the ground, sending plumes of deadly vapor into the air. You now have one hour to crack the clues in Dr Brandt’s laboratory and locate the only known antidote which is the only chance of saving yourselves, and the rest of the world.
49 escape rooms
I enjoyed this room! The decorations and puzzles were in theme and in good condition. This was my 35th escape room (30W - 5L) so I still consider myself a bit of a newbie. I played with five other players with similar stats ranging in age from 11 to 58. I think we received one hint (but really it just took a different set of eyes sorting the puzzle) so I would rate the difficulty of the room on the hard side of medium. We finished with 10:59 remaining. A group of four scientific sleuths would probably be ideal. This was our fourth Escapology Carlsbad room and we are very excited to try three more rooms this week. The Escapology employees are amazing.
I liked the room, it was fun! The final puzzle was definitely new for me and I'm glad I had a science major playing with me because after it was solved, I was like, "ummm... what?..." (but in a good way)
The set design was in theme and very well done. It was an immersive experience and fun to play.
The Escapology Carlsbad employees are awesome. They are super-friendly, accommodating, and funny.
Yes
I like the science theme! I really like that my STEM kid solved the final puzzle by understanding what the game creator was going for while I was still scratching my head - lol.
The decorations and puzzles were all in theme. To be honest, I don't really listen to the story beyond knowing that it is science themed. But the rest of my group was listening attentively and liked the story.
Medium
As mentioned above, this was my 35th escape room (30W - 5L) so I still consider myself a bit of a newbie. I played with five other players with similar stats ranging in age from 11 to 58. I would rank this on the hard side of medium. I think four players would be ideal for this game.
High tech
There were elements of both tech and mechanical in the room, but probably slightly more tech. I usually like mechanical, but definitely enjoyed the room.
4
We played as a group of six so sometimes one or two players were just observing. Four players would probably be ideal (depending on experience) but the room is large enough to accommodate more.
Not scary
We don't play scary rooms.

I think this room is geared more towards adults and older kids. The science theme is great but I think tweens might enjoy the Pirate, Scooby Doo and Lost City rooms more.
No
I feel like everything was in great condition. However, there was either one red herring or we skipped a puzzle (I forgot to ask about it at the end).
No
No live actors, thank goodness.
Somewhat
There was lots of walking around and the usual high energy, but nothing exhausting.
I think the room is large enough for a wheelchair, but there are puzzles and clues that require visual, color, and auditory ability.
Yes
It is in a mall.
Easy
There is plenty of mall parking (and places to eat if you're playing multiple games with time to kill between rooms)

Rooms were fairly bare, it wasn’t really clear what you were supposed to do. Definitely one of the least favorite rooms we’ve done.
No
Not difficult but no flow to the puzzles

Great escape room. Puzzles were solid. Starts off with a riddle so hopefully you're good with riddles!
