Unfortunately, this room was not really fun at all. We started out with a good rhythm for the first few puzzles but then things came to a halt. There was quite a bit of reading in this room and some involved very tiny font. We were saying to ourselves “this can’t be part of the puzzle because the words were so small.” A clue in a room should be legible to anyone and not difficult to read just for the sake of it. And then there’s a puzzle that was hard to see because it was not in a well lit area. We tried to use the lantern that was provided from the start, but it was not charged. So I ended up having to use my phone to see properly, which I normally don’t do, but what they gave us was useless. Then there was an item we used that did not fit properly in an area so we were unsure if it worked or not. Only to discover later it activated a clue. And lastly, the hint system was not really hints but just straight up answers on how to complete a puzzle. We ended up not knowing how things were done and just given answers on how to just move on. The flow of the room was confusing and after all that, we had no better understanding of the story of this room than when we began. We “escaped” but left feeling very unfulfilled and confused with the entire experience. I suggest to save your money and try something else. With the small font, a useless lantern for the poor lit areas and an annoying hint system, I just can’t recommend this room to anyone.

Lantern that was provided for extra light was not fully charged so it was unusable. Had to use my flashlight on my phone.

I really liked this room! This was my 37th escape room (32W - 5L) and I played with four other players with similar stats (ages 13 - 58). We received no hints and finished with 12:15 remaining - yay! The room was beautifully decorated (all of the Escapology sets are amazing), everything was in working condition, and the story / game flowed well. The staff at Escapology Carlsbad are fabulous! They are very friendly, respected that we did not want hints, and were humorous. I think the GM said that this is their second hardest room (behind Orient Express), and I agree. We struggled quite awhile with one puzzle. This was our sixth room with Escapology Carlsbad this week, and we are eagerly looking forward to the seventh room, later today.
The puzzles were very fun, fit in theme with the room, and the story flowed well.
The room was beautifully decorated (all of the Escapology Carlsbad rooms are amazing), very in theme, and fun to play.
The Escapology Carlsbad staff are amazing! They were very welcoming at check in, respected our request for no hints, and had a funny sense of humor.
Yes
I enjoyed the mansion theme, a couple of the puzzles were new to me, and the decor was beautiful.
The plot was engaging (tbh, I rarely listen to the stories, but my teammates do) and stayed in theme throughout the room.
Hard
The room was hard, but not painfully so. The puzzles were logical but sometimes took a little longer to work through. It was perfect for our group of five who have played 37 escape rooms (age range 13-58).
High tech
The room has a nice combination of mechanical and tech, but slightly more tech.
5
We played as a group of five and people always had something to do.
Not scary
We don't play scary rooms.
10
Kids can play this room, there isn't anything adult themed or scary, but I think younger kids would have more fun with the themes of some of the other Escapology rooms.
No
Everything was in great condition.
No
No live actors, thank goodness.
Somewhat
There was a lot of walking around, but nothing strenuous.
I think the room is large enough for a wheelchair, but some of the puzzles require vision, color, and sound.
Yes
It is in a mall.
Easy
There was plenty of mall parking. There are also several restaurants if you need a snack between rooms.

Not our favorite room but it was still fun and immersive. The decor of the room was excellent but the puzzles themselves left us more confused than challenged. Hint's could have been more seamlessly woven into the room rather than the method employed. It was linear which made it difficult for a group of 4 because either we were all confused or if a puzzle was being solved others didn't have much to do.
Yes
The puzzles were different alright; we haven't seen these types of puzzles before.
Hard
You need to think outside of the box and then outside of the adjacent boxes to solve some puzzles.
Easy
It's at a mall, there is plenty of parking.
