It is the year 2024 but the world as you know is not the same. In this alternative reality, coal and steam power the world. As a result the technology that you are accustomed to simply does not exist. No computers, bright lights, or lasers. And the reason for this lack of progress is not an accident. Greedy and influential masters of the coal industry suppress any inventions that challenge the power of coal. Inventors vanish mysteriously before their groundbreaking ideas see the light of day. It's up to you to bring the world to a brighter future and get the blueprints of this new invention out of the lab of your scientist friend who was arrested when rumors about his new invention started spreading. You have one hour to secure the blueprints of a new, clean electricity generator. Act quickly, before sinister forces intervene.

Rating: 3.5/5 - Interesting, high tech room hampered by glitches. This was almost a ❤️ for me, but a few things brought down the experience. Pros: ➕Loved the steampunk theming and immersion, every object felt like it fit in the universe. Even the timer and old school flashlight felt appropriate. ➕Set looked great, it was decorated floor to ceiling with many custom pieces. ➕Good use of ambient audio and LED lighting. The overall room lighting was also bright enough, I dislike rooms that are too dark. ➕More than a single room to explore. ➕Puzzles were very physical/tactile with many objects to manipulate. I enjoyed them and they were fair and made sense. ➕Some props and puzzles I haven't seen yet even after 200+ rooms. ➕Lots of interesting, custom tech. There were only 2-3 padlocks. ➕There is some non-linearity so there were opportunities to split up. Room for improvement: ➖A reset error resulted in a door opening too early and laggy/delayed/glitchy tech put a huge damper on our flow. We finished something, then would have to wait a while before something would trigger. ➖We only had 1 GM who was running two simultaneous rooms. This led to delayed responses and at one point, I think he accidentally spoke to our room when he was trying to give the other room a hint. ➖All the custom 3D printed parts were interesting, but they were unfinished since the 3D print lines were still visible. I recommend a team of 2-4 enthusiasts. My ranking of the 3 rooms here starting with my favorite: 1. Salvation Reactor 2. Prison Escape 3. Old Tavern

This was a very interesting steampunk themed room. Lots of puzzles with gears which kept in theme. One puzzle I haven’t seen utilized before in an escape room. I will say, I thought the style of puzzles was a little repetitive, but it was still fun. One major complaint is that the transitions between solving something and the reveals were very laggy. It would take a minute or so after we solved a puzzle for us to realize that we did it correctly because that’s how long it would take for the room to register that the puzzle was complete. I think 2 people is the correct number for this room. It’s extremely linear.

This was a solid room, but some of the puzzles were annoying. I did not enjoy how you had to return to certain things throughout the room, and there were a few puzzles where we dropped something and had to scramble to find it. This made it feel like we lost the room not because of difficulty or a challenge but due to minor things. There were fun parts of the room though, especially the atmosphere.

Was anything broken?

There was a computer system snafu with the first puzzle, but they reset it from the control center and we moved forwards. Apparently room had only been open for 2 months and there were a couple of kinks they were ironing out. GM said they would relay feedback to owner for improvement.

Business was on the second floor of the building. I do not recall if there was an elevator. There was one threshold that would need to be crossed. Fairly low but it would be cumbersome for a wheelchair.

Tiny sign in an office park window. From there, the signage was clear.

A fun gear-based dystopian steampunk room that exceeded our expectations! The room makes excellent use of light and darkness to create wow moments and clever brain teasers. The set is well-constructed and the style fits the steampunk vibe to a T. Unfortunately, some of the tech didn’t work completely. That said, the use of tech was smart and inventive! We did this room for National Escape Room Day 2024, and it was worth it! Best room at this location to get your brain gears grinding!

All of the games at riddlebox have been on a higher plane than most. Immersive atmosphere and puzzles that make sense with the story. I would highly recommend any of them.
