Welcome to Devlin Manor. Mr. Devlin has been murdered. And what you thought was a simple and possibly fortuitous "Reading of the Will" has turned into a deadly, high stakes "who done it" mystery. You have 60 minutes to find the killer and the antidote or you may be the next to join the ghosts that wander the hallow halls of Devlin Manor. Part 1 of the Devlin trilogy.

Cute room. The puzzles seemed on the easier side and more locks than I like in one room, but there were some other fun puzzles as well. Lots of fun things opened in the room and I liked how they personalized the ending.
Nothing special about any of the puzzles. Lots of locks.
The room had some decor that was nice and fun. The flow was fun.
Very friendly!

Part 1 of a trilogy. We will return for 2 and 3!

Linear straightforward story of Devlin's Manor, this is the first part of a 3 part series at No.1 escapes. It's a great introduction to what's to come and has decent puzzles. Would recommend just 3-4 people!

Straightforward linear room good for beginners and easy for the experts. We may have done a lot of rooms but we still loved a few of the surprises. A good room build is always fun! Our excellent GM Joseph said this is the easiest of the three, so we're looking forward to finishing the story with the other.

Small space, 2-3 ideal
Not scary
I'm a scaredy cat so trust me, when I say it was not scary and I don't think it was even spooky? Mildly spooky at best.

Rating as somewhat because a bit of crawling by the whole group is needed
Room is on a second floor, not sure it's wheelchair accessible. Also a tiny bit of crawling is needed by all of the group.

Our first room at this location as it is the first in their series of 3 stories that connect to each other. We enjoyed this room (with the exception of two puzzles, see gameplay section for more thoughts). Our game master was very helpful without being too helpful. I thought the way the space was used and the effects throughout was very fun and immersive and we are looking forward to returning for the others at this location.
The puzzles definitely flowed with the story well. At least one puzzle we felt we just lucked into solving rather than understanding it. Another we thought seemed just like busy work vs moving the plot along. We could ask for help to skip the puzzles that we couldnβt figure out/were taking too much time (like the one we thought felt like busy work). Hints were written on the screen in the room, and I believe they were also available over the loudspeakers in the room too.

Some cool effects and set-related reveals made this stand out for me.
The storyline is a little dark for the tone of the room, nothing was super scary or evil in my option but some of the backstory was quite morbid.

Gameplay seemed mostly linear so 2-4 is likely best
Not scary
Though the premise is slightly spooky this room was not scary at all.
10
Nothing that was super unfriendly to kids, but the storyline is an adult theme of death/murder investigation.

Some crawling
Room is on second floor of building so had to do stairs. Some crawling as well, one can be bypassed but the second cannot. If one player can crawl, then they could theoretically do the work in that location, but there were several things to be done there and I wouldnβt have had as much fun if I didnβt get in there.

Excellent beginner/intermediate room with logical puzzles and lots of tech under the surface. A compelling and gettable storyline make this a fun and foreboding frolic.

Part 1/3 this room was so cool. The fact that itβs apart of a trilogy was amazing. The story flowed so nicely and we were able to get through with barely any clues. If you do this room do the other 2 to complete the trilogy because the story line is out of words amazing.

After having done Carnage Cabin after a Morty Roulette day, we decided to go back and give the trilogy another try and Iβm glad we did. Devlinβs Manor is the introduction to the three-party story and this experience felt much more cohesive somehow. Our game masters were escape room enthusiasts and they prefaced for us that we might find this room to be too easy. I thought there was a well-balanced number of Gen 1 and Gen 2 puzzles in here and it was of medium challenge so they read our group well! One puzzle, while others may have considered this to be a βtime waster,β at least had a very clear conclusion unlike the dexterity puzzle in Carnage Cabin. So, I didnβt mind it and it tackled a different part of the brain. Another feedback I would have is that with linear rooms, it could be frustrating to have one person work on one puzzle and for everyone to just be watching that one person. I would recommend adding another puzzle to do in the meantime. But the reveals were pretty cool throughout! Overall, it was a good time and this ranks higher for me than Carnage Cabin. Fortune Teller, the third chapter in the trilogy, is my favorite. I overheard that there was a change in management recently and this feels like a good thing and a step in the right direction. I would have done this room with less people so that everyone had something to do. 3-4 people feels ideal for this space.

We paid a visit to our dearly departed, Mr. Devlin, which we were fortunate enough to bring him on our journey with us (via his urn). Lol. We escaped with about 5 minutes left, and we had a fun time. And donβt worry! Mr. Devlin was safe throughout, but we did have to call on the spirit of Mr. Devlin a few times. I wouldnβt necessarily say that this escape room was spooky, even though itβs supposed to give off a little bit of the spooky vibes. Itβs pretty well lit for the most part, and the clues were pretty straight forward, but 2 major puzzles were very tedious, so this escape room could possibly test your patience and teamwork. This escape room was the 1st in the trilogy, so it is setting up for the next 2 rooms at No. 1 Escapes. I would recommend a team of 4 and would rate this room as Hard depending on your skill level and confidence. Due to the space and the puzzles, a team of 4 would be most efficient. Special shout out to our Game Master, Amber! Truly grateful that I was able to have her as my GM back at Deceptive Games when it closed, and then I got to have her at No. 1 Escapes. She has the best guest service, and she brought so much to our game before, during, and after our escape! When I return, I am definitely going to request Amber again. She made our experience even better! Overall, we had a really good time in this escape room. Youβre given ample amount of time to solve the room, and you become invested in the story because each part of the story is important in solving the different puzzles. You understand it instinctively. Itβll be interesting to see what Carnage Cabin and Fortune Teller have to hold next.
The game play is linear, and the clues were pretty straight forward, however, there are 2 tedious puzzles that were starting to feel like time wasters because of the complexity of it, so just beware and practice your patience lol.

The room was pretty well lit and the hint system was easy to understand and read. But I was pretty impressed with the set design, especially the end. I was really surprised and asked questions about the architecture and structure of the escape room haha. This escape room made strong use of the space that it had.

Our Game Master was Amber! She was so attentive to our needs, she gave us the right nudges when we needed it, and she was patient with us. She brought a lot to our experience because of her guest service and her ability to tell the story of Mr. Devlin. I enjoyed talking to her before and after, and hearing from her experiences as our Game Master haha. I would definitely recommend Amber if you want a memorable escape room experience!

Devlin Manor is the 1st in the Devlin trilogies (Carnage Cabin as the 2nd and Fortune Teller as the 3rd). After playing the 1st room, I can definitely see more of the story unfolding in the next 2 escape rooms because of the way that the story ended. Iβm looking forward to the next 2 rooms. Itβs a very unique way of storytelling at an escape room company through a trilogy escape room arc.

Story telling at its best. Love the fact that this is a trilogy. Couple of unique puzzles.
