The town of Crystal Cove and surrounding areas are being terrorized by monsters and ghosts, and now the local Baroness Maria Richman has gone missing and it is suspected that the ghost sightings have something to do with it! Tasked with solving the crime, you arrive at the same conclusion as Mystery Incorporated. But when you get to the Spooky Castle, Mystery Inc. gets locked out, at the same time you get locked in! You soon realize that they’re able to help by communicating clues via magic portraits inside the Castle. After discovering a secret dungeon and monster lab in the castle, you come to the conclusion that the person responsible almost certainly works in the castle - but who could it be as there are several suspects??

7 escape rooms
The nostalgia factor is high on this escape room - if you are a Scooby Doo fan, this is definitely worth your time because they got the voice actors (or someone that did a really good job mimicking them), they brought in the tropes from the show, and they included puzzles with references to classic villains and other characters. The theming and presentation of this felt right, with spooky, cartoony environments. Beyond that, though, it was a pretty unremarkable escape room from a puzzle standpoint. None of the puzzles were really memorable except a few that were a little more frustrating than they needed to be. This makes the room’s apparent kid-friendliness a little misleading - it’s a room based on a kid’s cartoon, but there are some pretty challenging puzzles. Still, the presentation was strong and there were definitely charming moments that made the room worthwhile for those of us who were longtime Scooby Doo fans. I particularly loved how they explicitly brought in the distinctive art and animation style of the original series and referenced iconic characters like the Creeper and the Black Knight - they clearly put lots of effort into evoking the unique look of the show, and it was heartwarming to be immersed in it. Overall I recommend it, but perhaps much more so for people who are actually Scooby Doo fans.
Overall pretty good gameplay. A few frustrating puzzles but nothing that really blocked us.
Atmosphere and theming are definitely the strong points of this room, truly evoking the feel of a Scooby Doo episode, with original “Mystery Inc” teens and their classic nemeses making appearances. I loved the art elements that were clearly inspired by the original series and puzzles that incorporated beloved characters from the show like the creeper, the black knight, etc. Lots of fan service in this room!
Professional and friendly.
Yes
The Scooby Doo theming made it a lot of fun for fans. If you don’t care about the theme, the puzzles and presentation wouldn’t be as magical, because the puzzles, taken alone, would not be enough to elevate this room for non-Scooby-Doo-fans. But the puzzles were fine and the theming was solid.
Hard
Most of the puzzles were pretty straightforward and fair but there were a few that seemed unnecessarily time consuming, like puzzles that made you use non-vision senses to categorize things when the things are pretty close, making them quite difficult and a long slog even after you’ve “solved” the puzzle and knew what to do. It wasn’t anything that blocked us from solving the room, but they could reduce the number of those elements and let finding the solution stand while making executing on the solution less tedious and frustrating.

Not scary
Scooby Doo is by nature a little spooky but, like the original show, the context it is presented in takes the scariness out and replaces it more with whimsy and adventure. Kids (and hesitant adults) should be fine in this room.

Hard to say on this one. The cartoon visual elements and the kids-show theme give the false impression that this room is aimed at kids. I doubt a group of young kids would be successful in this room because a few of the puzzles are surprisingly challenging. But this is a room that would be good to bring kids in on; just don’t expect to be solving every puzzle along with them; they will be left out of some of the solutions so plan to have companions with them accordingly for when that happens.

There were a few puzzles that we struggled with to complete, despite knowing what to do, because our senses weren’t sharp enough to discern a few things.
