Hush uses creative design and storytelling to make maximum use of the space. The additional "rule" that gives the room its name adds an extra layer of challenge and heightens the suspense without making tasks unsolvable or unfair. Highly recommended for anyone who likes the suspense side of horror rather than scares.

Gameplay

Good puzzle design and well structured bread-crumbing to direct the players where to go. Once you are in the right path, you can easily stay on that path for the duration of the room.

Atmosphere

Hush is made intentionally with a lower budget, but makes excellent use of the object in the space to create a setting bordering just in the edge of surreal, which matches the tone of the narrative and puzzle structure.

Customer service

The game master was friendly and welcoming, and clearly enjoyed participating in establishing and maintaining the narrative. He provided very light hints when asked, trusting the players to just need a nudge, not to be pointed toward the answer.

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

There is an added "rule" with this room that constrains how players are able to communicate ideas without limiting their ability to interact with the puzzles. For the same of the atmosphere I will not give away this mechanic, but violating the rule does penalize time.

Story

Forsaken Archives have an excellent overarching narrative, and Hush continues this trend of dancing a line between mystery and horror.

Difficulty

Hard

Ash a single room escape, puzzles leaned more on logic and reasoning and gimmicks and secrets. With the added "Rule" of the theme and the shorter than normal time limit, the room poses a substantial challenge. Skilled players might find it easier, but intermediate players may find this room challenges their win records.

Game tech

Mechanical

Ash with other Forsaken Archives rooms, Hush plays it's "tier 1" puzzle style to the Hilton. No fancy tech to break down or require specific positioning. Just codes, locks, and your own brain.

Ideal number of players

4

4 might be thr upper limit for this room due to its space, but 3 to 4 players feels ideal

Scary

Spooky

Excellent atmosphere with no overtime scares. The suspense is all in the story and the "rule"

Minimum age

15

The puzzles rely on logic skills more than player knowledge, but the difficulty and the theming may make this room challenging to some younger players who aren't invested in what it has to offer.

Was anything broken?

No

The room worked flawlessly.

Live actors

No

Physically active

Not at all

The puzzles relied on logic and puzzle solving rather than manipulation puzzles

Accessibility

No mobility challenges aside from the room's limited dimensions. One puzzle may be challenging for colorblindness, but the rest should not be (red/green tags used on one puzzle) Those who struggle to crouch or stoop may find one gathering potion difficult.

Easy to find location

Yes

The location is a bit off the main road, but no more tucked away than most escape rooms

Parking

Easy

Plenty of parking, particularly in the evening.

1 escape room

A shorter game that showcased how much you can do with very little. Owner is super nice and explained everything we missed afterwards. Game does a great job with the premise of limiting how much noise you make! Tier 1 room, no electronics, no secret rooms. Just you and the puzzle and I loved it!

Never played a game where you have to keep quiet before!

Story

The story was brief and did a good job to set the room, but wasn't the focus.
