L.A. Crimes is my 2nd favorite entry in the Detective board game series. Like the other card-based mystery games, the goal is to follow leads to solve a murder investigation. There are other aspects such as limited time and resources, but the gist is find the murderer(s) and close the case. Like the main Detective game, this is an overarching case that takes place in 1980s Los Angeles. You can play with others, or course, since many minds help to toss ideas around. As a bonus, each player can be a different character, which gives you more “abilities” as you play. This is a very fun game with a compelling mystery, though there are some logic leaps if you aren’t able to follow the right leads. I still recommend the main game first, but if you’ve done that, do buckle up and go back in time!
