Pirate Cove

A fun game and one that is particularly impressive as the designer’s first build. Quite text heavy to deliver an interesting narrative, ‘Pirate Cove’ offers a gorgeous collection of rooms that play host to an interesting puzzle flow. Some steps of the game can be completed in multiple ways—a harder puzzle to unlock a box is easily found, while an alternative, easier puzzle to unlock the same box can sometimes be found with additional searching. It’s not the normal approach to puzzle flow, but it is an interesting take that may engage larger groups, yet confuse smaller inexperienced teams that grip onto every note and prop as a clue to be used later. The designers have attempted to combat this by putting symbols on each piece of paper to show which puzzle it corresponds to, so if one puzzle has been solved with the candlestick symbol, then the other pieces of paper with that symbol can then be disregarded. All in all, a solid room and an exciting first glimpse at what a new team of designers have accomplished. We look forward to seeing what they create next!

Immersion is great and has a tiered puzzle system, multiple puzzles to give you the same answer harder to solve puzzles are easier to find where as easier to solve puzzles are hard to find. As part of that there is a lot of treasure hunting and puzzles to figure out. Took us a group of 3 the full hour and would recommend.
