Permanently Closed - The Illegal Search round of the 2025 MIT Mystery Hunt required teams to search Robert "Papa" Finster's private study, looking for the details of a secret that he had left hidden away. In order to "escape" (or complete the round), teams had to figure out what the secret was and how to confront Papa with proof that they knew.

Fun round. The actual escape room elements aren’t that important or deep, though. It’s mostly a formatting/display gimmick. The actual puzzle content is of course excellent as MITMH always is, but the “escape room” round structure doesn’t add all that much 3/5

A most wonderful tribute/satire of classic escape room tropes, wrapped in a warm blanket of brain-frying puzzles. I love when the worlds of puzzles hunts and escape rooms intersect like this!
