Absolutely loved the first part of this time. Didnβt care for the second half.

Successfully done with 2. Really cool set!! So much detail. Really cool transition and effects, leading to a wow moment. Actual puzzles were just okay.

Escape Game Chicago is a great location with several great rooms. Special Ops was a lot of fun. Having 4 people max is optimal for this room (5 was too many, as a few of us felt bored and cramped at times).

Not our favorite from this company, we did 2 of their other rooms at this point so this one was just ok

This was my first escape room, and I loved it. It was a really entertaining immersive experience that just the right amount of challenging for a group our size (8). The story started off a little weak, but the ambiance and the clever puzzles made up for it. The story took a turn halfway through the experience, and the second half of the puzzle were very narrative-driven and satisfying. We finished with 8 seconds left on the clock.
Lots of different, cleverly designed puzzles that worked well with the story that was being told.
The props and set design were very well done. Definitely an immersive experience.
Staff were all very friendly and encouraging.
Yes
Some of the puzzles were pretty tricky! But none of them felt frustratingly difficult.
The story started off a little weak, but the ambience made up for what felt like a lacking narrative. Halfway through the puzzles, the story took a turn, and the second half of the experience was very narrative-driven and satisfying.
Medium
It was a little bit harder than I was expecting, which is a good thing! We did ask for a couple of hints, but for the most part, we were able to solve all of the puzzles on our own.
High tech
I would say it was a satisfying mix. A lot of the puzzles were purely mechanical, and the ambiance was created using plenty of normal, everyday objects, but we received a couple of video transmissions throughout the experience, and some of the later puzzles involved buttons and touch screens. All of it felt appropriate to the story.
6
We had a group of 8, which at times felt like a bit too much. I would say the ideal group size for this room would be somewhere between 4 and 6. It might be too difficult for just 4 people, because there were a lot of puzzles, and usually there were people working on different ones simultaneously. But eight felt like a bit of a crowd. So maybe six?
Not scary
The storyline took a turn that I thought was quite dark, but the kids in our group did not seem bothered by it at all, and itβs probably not too different from what they see in movies and on TV.
8
We had some young kids in our group, and they seemed to enjoy it, but I think kids younger than 8 might not get that much out of the experience.
No
As far as I could tell, nothing was broken and everything was working smoothly.
No
There were actors that delivered video transmissions from time to time during the experience.
Somewhat
Toward the end, we were scrambling to try to finish the final puzzles on time, which got our heart rates up a bit.
Unfortunately, I donβt think this experience would have been super accessible to someone in a wheelchair. I donβt remember if there were captions during the video transmissions, but I think those were the only parts of the experience that might have been inaccessible to someone that was hard of hearing. There were a couple of puzzles that might have been challenging to someone who is colorblind.

Iβm not sure what the parking situation was. We arrived via rideshare.

Definitely a challenge for 2 players, but we got the job done! This room is everything you wouldnβt expect and then some. Great theming, great puzzles, and great staff!

Itβs easy to see why this chain is successful enough to be nationwide. The rooms are so immersive and well done. Special Ops is no different. Itβs a very impressive room. There are some really cool props and mechanics, one of which Iβve never seen in an escape room before. Thereβs also one mechanic which is really well done but way too fiddly and time consuming.

This was a solid game, a few too many red herrings for my taste. Good puzzles but we were told to use our phone flashlights when the flashlight they provided was too dim. Entertaining storyline and ambiance.

One of the most unique escape room experiences Iβve had thus far! Without heavy spoilers, this escape room utilizes novel sensory challenges and features a story that impacts the actual escape room flow in an interesting way.

This room is a must at this location. I canβt say more without spoiling the rest. Exactly as the page lists βyou encounter a twist you never expectedβ.

We played with a group of 4 enthusiasts. More could fit, but I think itβs a tight squeeze
