Permanently Closed - We return to Gen Con! This real-life adventure combines minigolf with escape-room-style puzzles and RPG theming to craft a unique (and ridiculous) experience! King Parthur has again summoned heroes to defend the kingdom of Parcadia! Armed with…unconventional tools (that look suspiciously like a golf ball and a putter), your group sets out to defeat the encroaching evil. More than just a series of putting challenges, Critical Putt features character creation, puzzles, and performers to create an RPG-style adventure that uses minigolf to tell a fantastical story. For those of you who played in 2023 - we heard your feedback and are excited to show off our new adventure in a larger space! You may see some repeated (and improved!) golf holes, but we will also be bringing completely new holes, puzzles, and challenges. Based in Champaign-Urbana IL, CU Adventures hosted escape rooms at Gen Con from 2016-2019 and Critical Putt in 2023. Known for immersive sets and award-winning gameplay, we return to Gen Con with this new/improved experience.

Probably my favorite event at Gen Con. It was essentially 11 mini golf holes that were distinct and fun with some quick puzzles mixed in. On top of the golf, they managed to include a whimsical storyline, strong theming and lighting, engaging actors, tech, player choices, comedic moments, animatronics, teamwork, and a satisfying ending.

A cute game for GenCon! We’ve played their flagship games in Illinois and this company always shows up and shows out. This was a lot more putt putt with a fantasy theme than “escape room” really and a timer to keep everyone on track. But it was a fun break and we loved the storyline and movement through the courses. There were also a few “pit stops” with live actors, which was a ton of fun! I loved that you could buy different putts to use and we all had a blast.
