When Smaug fell at Erebor, Bilbo found an egg in his hoard and took it back to the Shire—unaware that there was a second one. Decades passed, Bilbo grew old, and while the first egg never woke, a dragon hatched from the second. Now the Shire threatens to engulf in flames. Bilbo is too old to face the dragon, but he has made provisions: Over the years, he has collected equipment for this day—the sword Sting, a mithril chainmail, reinforced bracers, a mighty helmet, and the One Ring.
